Looking for Artists!! Help with Patches for GBG!!

I know there is a few talented people on here that may be willing to help.

This year we will be giving out THREE patches for the GBG.

Main GBG patch for every players.
And this year we are giving out a special patch for each team.
Midwest Alliance and Great Lakes Crusaders

Don't start yet I will be posting the shape for each patch. So please wait for that.

At this time I will be just looking for the two team patches.
The team patch shape will lock in with the main patch.
The GBG patch will have the date and the Splat Tag logo so the team patches do not need that info.
The background color should be the teams color, Red for the Midwest Allaince and Blue for the Great Lakes Crusaders.

All the rest is up in the air.

Here's one I threw together quickly for the Midwest Alliance.



From their point of view:

The eight stars symbolize the eight states of the Alliance, and look like meteors to remind us how the meteor strike continues to affect our lives.. The sword with wings symbolizes the motivation for the fight - to pull ourselves out of the terrible conditions we find ourselves in. Together, a letter "A" is formed, signifying the Midwest Alliance.


(LOL it seems I have a limited color palette - the same colors appear in the PBPBC logo. A coincidence, I swear!)

Ran out of inspiration a bit on the BLC patch. :o

I've been browsing this Pentagon site (http://www.tioh.hqda.pentagon.mil/DUI_SSI_COA_page.htm) for ideas. There's some seriously cool insignias in our Armed forces history. :eek:



From their point of view:

The five sides of the pentagon symbolize the five states (Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio) of the Big Lakes Crusaders. The five arrows point outwards, showing our desire to expand. The gear wheel symbolizes the Industrial might of the region, past and present. The gear has twenty-five teeth to symbolize the permanent members of the Big Lakes Crusader Martial Council, five members from each state.

I've done all of these in SVG format, so they can be scaled as needed. These pictures are the largest the forum software allows me to attach to the post.

I do need to add that what ever shape we go with, both will need to be the same shape.
So the GBG main patch can wrap around both team patches.

I know how that is - work made the mistake of leaving unsecured wireless sitting around begging to be used.

That, and there isn't a whole lot of work to be done at the moment. I do have a project I should be working on.... but I'm waiting for information from the customer about it (yeah, needing to know what OS they want on the new server they're going to rent is kind of important)

The MidWest Alliance's patch consists of a group of 3 soldiers to represent it's strong belief in discipline, teamwork, and unity to "VANQUISH" the Crusaders. The star represents the belief of the Alliance's General to pull them through the war.

The Great Lakes Crusaders' patch consists of a soldier (representing Attack), a watch tower (representing Defense), and helicopter (representing Strategy) to "CONQUER" the Alliance. The crown represents the allegiance of the Crusaders to rally and overthrow and rule the Alliance.

So here's my Alliance patch. I looked at all of the state flags in the Alliance states and most of them had farming/plowing scenes so I thought the branches would be appropriate. Since the two armies are made of a broken US I gave the Alliance the red stripes, duh, and the Crusaders will have the blue/stars when I get it done. The stripes also carry the farm thing over with the rows of corn, crops, etc. Star for unity, A for Alliance!

You may have to wait a bit, or hit control-reload to reload the page. Imageshack can be very slow. But the wait is worth it, that patch looks cool. The contrasting colors in the leaves and star make it really pop.

That image is haunted. :) I tried hosting it on my Comcast account, then noticed that only Firefox would display it. Internet Explorer and Chrome displayed the dreaded Red X.

For some reason, evolkers' hosting works, and I can see it in all three.

That one works in all three. I bet IE and Chrome can't cope with CMYK JPGs.

The latin phrase "aquam terramque poscere" means "to demand submission". I think. :D The cross in the upper-left corner of the shield is a variation on the Crusader's Cross (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross). The shield, spears and sword show the BLC's emphasis on military might. The five spears symbolize the five states of the BLC, while the stylized eagle holding a sword symbolizes observation, mobility and power.

I've been using Inkscape (http://inkscape.org/) to do mine. It's free and pretty powerful. The manual is actually pretty good, too.

Thanks Badger! If you have patch velcro on your vest or jersey/jacket there's a quick way you can wear it on game day. Pick up some wide velcro strips from Mennards or Michaels, the kind with strong adhesive on the back. Stick the "hook" side on the patch so it covers the entire back, then trim around the edges of the patch with scissors. Press the adhesive real hard and stick it to your gear. This is usually how I wear my Sh*t Burner patches and I haven't lost a one, not even when it went through the wash once.

I think the blue on my Crusader patch could be a little blue'er, it dulled down when I did the RGB conversion.

All very professional, I was hoping it would be up to Darrin to make the choices, but a poll works since we'll all be wearing them.:cool: I know its tough to put yourself out there with a design and not get chosen, but like Darrin said; all designs may be used in future Games and that still makes it all worth it! Team patches will be given out to the first 500 players to check in on both teams. So that 1000 total players can get one. That should be way more then enough. ;)

Same with the Main patch I ordered a 1000.
