View Full Version : Run a remote? Hate pulling your tank to fill?

It's annoying to have to pull my tank out of my vest when it's time to refill. I've been keeping my eye out for remote fill lines (or just long braided hose to make my own). I've found two companies that make remote fill lines:

NinjaPaintaball (http://www.ninjapaintball.com/productDetail.asp_Q_catID_E_96_A_subCatID_E_86_A_p roductID_E_93) "Ninja Fill Whip"
$20
30" long
Black

Scenario Arms (http://www.scenarioarms.com/HPARefillHose.html) "Tactical () HPA Refill Hose"
$30
27" long
Protective heat-shrink tubing over braided line
Includes fill nipple cover
Camo or black cloth wrap

There's probably more companies that make them. :)

Cool option, but I'm just not comfortable having someone fill a tank that is strapped on my back. God help someone when something goes wrong.

Besides, I don't remove my tank from my back, that's what I have teammates/friends for!

That's the point of the fill hoses, you don't even have to turn around to fill your tank, you just hook it up and run the pump yourself. Both hoses listed are at least 2 feet long, so they easily reach around in front of you.

I've been using mine for about a year and half now, would'nt ever have it any other way. Just make sure your snapped on tight B4 filling,;) I just about took out Darrin once when I did'nt double check it. He yelled at me, and its never happened again.:D/AKA

If something goes wrong when it's in your hand, it'll be just as bad.

Best case it leaks, same situation for both positions.

Bad case, it torpedos off. There's no way you can control it with your hands, so no difference in terms of risk to others again.

Worst case, it blows up - total tank failure. If that happens, you're pretty well screwed regardless of where it is.

I hear ya. I watch guys do it all the time, it just makes me un-easy.

When I was young and dumb, we used to go around and steal propane tanks off of peoples' gas grills. We then took them out to the farm, leaned them up on a log, and shot at the bottom of them with the rifle. They would fly off into the air, and we would lose sight of them. Obviously, now I realize the dangers. Back then, we just didn't think about it. That was long ago, however, everytime I see a guy filling his tank on his back, all I can imagine is the tank failing and the guy and the tank shooting off into space like those propane tanks used to.

I'm sure they're safe, I just won't do it. haha

I would find it more likely that the vest tank pouch would rip/separate long before the player goes with the tank.

you know, DE from wildbunch has been running one of these for at least a year and I think he just got some hose from garinger or some industrial supply store and a couple of fittings for like $5... good way to save some green

since everyone is talking safety, NEVER use any oil on your fill nipple!!! I've seen people do it and people have told me to do it, but that can cause your tank to explode while filling.

Thank you for sharing!

I absolutely abhor pulling out my tank (110 ci) because it usually means taking off my broadsword vest to put it back in .

This is a life saver.

Actually, it cost him more then 5 bucks to make it. I know I supplied him with some of the parts.
The hose that he used (and I now make) is a 5k burst hose. Which aint cheap. Braided lines usually have a burst rating of 3k, so basically the one that DE uses (and others on WB) the tank burst disk on the tank should let go before the hose or tank bursts. As for filling tanks, the same problem most people sited as being a problem is the same problems that you would have just filling the tank normally. Really whats the difference of filling the tank on your back or on the marker? Or the table for that matter. But these hoses (mine as well as the one's listed) should be noted are only for HPA/LPA air bottles and not for CO2.

I finally bought one from Scenario Arms. A tad expensive, but the camo covers are free right now. Not much to it - a hose with fittings on either end, and a rubber cover for the fill nipple.

I'll be giving it a try this Sunday.

I bought the one from Ninja because it was cheaper than the scenario arms one. Used it at Tour of Duty and the Hunt, and it is really nice.

How much are they? Do you think the vendors at the GBG would have them?

Now that I've used it for a couple of months, it's worth every penny!

The only downside is that it's a little annoying keeping the line controlled; I end up using the belt hoops on my vest.
