If he wants to reveal himself (laughing:) *reveal himself* thats up to him at this point, but I agree he should start recruiting help:) right away 300a:). Before GW recruits everyone.:character0051:
On Monday December 8, 2008 9:00 p.m. I had recieved an invitation to head up the Coalition Forces which will assemble in the a.m. of May the 3rd 2009 to attempt to take back that what was taken from us in the last battle of May the 4th of 2008.
Shortly after recieving this invitation, I replied, that I will accept this Honor and Gather up all the Past, Present, and Future Forces that make up the Coalition Force.
I now appoligize to those who have been patiantly waiting for news on the new appointment, that will be replacing the Honorable General Foster.
I now ask that all Past, Present, and Future Forces that will make up the Coalition Force to give me they're same Strenghth and Determination as they did General Foster in the past.
My delay in this announcement was strickly personal and educational in order for me to carry out this Mission.
I will be writing up a recruitment Plea, so please watch for it. Thank-You.

Although I do have another thread for Merc recruitment in the forums here, I wanted to jump into this thread to let everyone know that I am indeed recruiting for the Merc side.
Also, in addition to the prizes being awarded by the Wild Bunch and Darrin I will be giving out my own prizes as the Merc General to the Merc MVP and MVT! Call it bribery, call it a Merc getting his pay, but the simple fact of the matter is that the Merc side is the side to be on in this fight!
Anyone who wishes to fight for the Mercs can contact me either through this forum or through The BadgerBrigades forum http://www.badgerbrigades.com or at scottandpriscilla@yahoo.com.
The Mercs have a 75% (3 out of 4) victory rate in this game and the one win the Coalition has was an aberration! Help us to continue to bring the miracle healing power of the koola moola plant to the people without the greedy coalition pharmaceutical companies pricing it out of everyone's reach!
Power to the people, victory for the Mercs!

That's the info for the 2008 game. There's probably a couple of threads around here about that game, too, which could be helpful.

I'd even like to see that one. I missed the first HFTC Game, but have played in the last Three. Maybe someone from WB has a history storyline laying around.;)/AKA

Would the airow paintball marker be considered "pump" and thus be able to chrono up to 300 (like the past few years?)

Hey this will be my first HFTC, and I was wondering about the pledge sheets and how they worked. I'd love to make some money for the cause.
Brutis
01-16-2009, 10:49 AM
You print out the pledge forms and go around your neighborhood, work, family & friends and ask them to donate money for HDSA. All of this money goes directly to research for treatment. Bring the cash & completed forms to the game & the player with the most $$ leaves with the marker. I was at a conference last fall with the top Huntingtons disease scientists in the world & they all said with optimism that within 10 years they would have some kind of treatment that would allow patients to have some degree of a normal life. Not a cure mind you, but something that would allow affected individuals a life with dignity. Kind of like HIV. 15 years ago, to be diagnosed with HIV was a death sentence. Now there are drugs that allow them to live for much longer.

THE PLOT THICKENS...
Years have passed. Medipharmatronics has been able to create its own “fern farms” and cultivate a promising business because of the Koolamula plant's healing powers and a new line of products based on them...
However, that was until “The Global Depression” that is in its seventh year and has brought the world's economy to its knees. Public and private institutions have not fared well with many failing the public and, in turn, the public has started to give up on them. It includes the collapse of not only third world governments, but also those of more developed nations. Medipharmatronics is now wrestling with its own future, as the company is not making enough profit (no one can afford to purchase it) to cover its huge start-up costs/loans.
The Coalition has its own problems. Many of the member governments are teetering on the brink of collapse. The global depression has exacerbated the rise of ethnic, religious and other opposition groups that are taking the opportunity to reach their goals (independence, theocracies, etc.). Coalition forces have been focusing on these direct threats to their interests. In their weakened state, these challenges are much more serious.
In the midst of it all a global anarchy movement has surfaced, lead by “Envision Anarchy.” Envision Anarchy has capitalized on citizens’ loss of faith in public and private institutions to further their own goals. It has accelerated the collapse through demonstrations, general strikes, and cyber attacks. However, it has secretly escalated its activities recently to chemical/biological attacks to further highlight public and private institutions' inability to protect the public. Their hope is it will bring the downfall of civilization as we know it (governments, capitalism, etc.).
Amazingly, the only known cure to Envision Anarchy’s new chemical/biological agent is a product made by Medipharmatronics. The company’s fortunes as a result have drastically changed for the better, but there is an emerging question about the relationship between the two.
So again the stage is set to continue your

I've had the itch to create patches for the Mercs and Coalition, so I took a stab at it.
Ironically, I have more inspiration for the Mercenaries' patch than my own Coalition. :character00118:
What do you think?

I like it! It surely represents the scenario, and if you don't do as good of a job on the Coalitions, you could always put Coalition Forces on that one.:D

It'd be neat if selling patches could bring in some more money!
I'm doing them in a program called Inkscape (http://www.inkscape.org/). I'm used to pen & paper, so this is taking some time.
They're in Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) format so they could be made into patches easily...
Here's a Coalition one. Maybe draws a little too much from other patches. I like the microscope/pistol combo in the center.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Rogue Nymph (known more commonly as just Rogue) of the team Shadow Korps will be reprising her role as Merc XO this year.
She has been duly informed that she doesn't have to turn off her radio when she heads off-field for a potty break, which she did last year with nearly disasterous results! She left no more than one minute before the (now) infamous "Diplomatic Mission" which removed me from the field and from radio contact with my team and she had no way of knowing that the Mercs were left without anyone in Command!
No Commander meant no Missions. Man, THAT SUCKED!

Campsites are about 5 ft apart. Our team camped out there before a giant game about 4 years ago and we have not gone back since.

Hmmm. Might have been some Badgers keeping you up. We've been known to party all night before a game.
This year I'm going to try and get the group-camp area. It just opened up last year and it's separated from the rest of the campsites by a couple hundred yards. You can have something like 200 people in it and it has its own pavillion and bathrooms/showers. Perfect for us. Maybe this way the park Nazis won't give us as much grief as they have the last couple of years.

As far as the RP thing.... it has been a great deal of fun going round and round with Thalion, but I've been so busy lately that I just can't seem to get into it right now. What with the construction of the Juggernaut and "the bomb to end all bombs"... and all the other warplanning and recruiting.... I really can't wait to meet the team that's coming all the way from St. Petersburg Russia to fight for the Mercs ;)....
So, anyway... I was thinking of getting some patches made of this design for the Mercs:

I'd love to tell you that I have a Russian cousin or something, but this was merely propaganda intended to frighten the weaker members of the Coalition and in general to mess with your heads (thus the little winky). There is no Russian team coming to play for the Mercs.
I have been nosing around in a few Russian Scenario Paintball forums though... sometimes Google does a decent job of translating them, sometimes not so much. I have invited a few teams to come to America and play, but no takers just yet. Maybe someday....

Yeah, I know... I'm a bad wolf. I was just trying to mess with your heads. No harm, no foul.
I wanted to let everyone know that I got TechT to sponsor the game! I will be bringing a bunch of their stuff up with me to give to Brutis. Got a couple of details to work out yet, but it sounds like they are sending a nice package of stuff my way for The Hunt. I'm also working on a few other companies, waiting to hear back from them.
Setting aside my role as Merc General for a second and putting on my BadgerBrigades President hat I just want to say that the BB is and always will be committed to supporting this game and I am working hard to help make The Hunt the premier game in the Midwest! I can honestly see a day in the near future when this game is considered a National level event and brings in $50k+ for HDSA.
Brutis... I pm'd you in the Badger Den. I need you to read it and get back to me! Some of the sponsorship stuff I am working on requires you and I to exchange some info. You can PM me here, but with the BB Spring Meeting (all of our MN friends are invited as well... yes, this means all of you) coming up quickly I only have time to pop in here on occasion. PMing me in the Den would be much better.
I can't wait, guys! This year's Hunt is going to be absolutely awesome!

Some stale MREs, a weapon made by the lowest bidder and the sour taste of defeat in your mouth. But that's OK, disgruntled soldiers this year make great MERCs next year!

In character (this means don't go thinking I'm all serious or that I'm anti-American or unsupportive of our troops. I happen to have a number of close friends who are serving right now!):
Yeah, yeah... you can wrap yourself in the flag all you want, I ain't buying it. There's no such thing as a MERC who wasn't a soldier first and there's no such thing as a soldier who does it for free. Besides, everybody's got to have a job... us MERCs just happened to be so excellent at what we do that somebody offered us a high paying job after our respective governments were done with us.
You know that little war over there in the sandbox? There's twice as many MERCs over there as soldiers. Mainly because your little "coalition of the willing" fell apart when things got "dirty" and my kind doesn't have a problem with doing the dirty work that needs to be done to keep the world from descending into anarchy.
Which reminds me... I'm betting "Envision Anarchy" is a front for a CIA black bag operation. It just plain reeks of CIA.
That's another nice thing about being a MERC... we go in knowing that we are considered expendable. It gives you a real sense of clarity. You poor sobs get sunshine blown up your arse by your recruiters about short, easy tours of duty and being home in time for the holidays and marrying Mary Jane Rottencrotch after you get out of college. What nonsense! At least if I get my leg blown off, I can afford the best medical care... you guys get Walter Reed and a "Gee! Thanks for serving, Joe!". You guys should positively glow at night for all the sunshine they fill you with.

Ya shouldn't poke a wolf with a stick, son. Not only will I bite.... I'll chew on ya fer awhile... just for fun!;):D
Hey Thal, I know you Sentinals are committed to the cause. I'm positive that all the teams who put The Hunt on their schedule believe that we can make a difference, and we will! As much as I love whacking Gophers (or mud ducks, or whatever you are), the thing that hooked me on this game was the idea that paintball could be used to further the common good. That a sport that simulates the worst in mankind (war) could be used to lift people's spirits and to provide hope to those who desperately need it. That's why you can't get rid of me, as much as you might wish I'd quietly just go away. tongue:)

I tried to keep the RP'ing to SO, but I can't leave that alone...
*ahem* assumes character
I guess it never actually occurred to you that people can fight for more than just money.
I've said it before, I'm disillusioned with some aspects of the Coalition. They robbed me of my rank, my command, my former life. I blame bureaucrats and political correctness and the many other faults of the Coalition government.
However, my loyalty to the people of the Coalition brings me back to this fight. Envision Anarchy's strike to the east coast was a low blow, and one that deserves a response. While the bureaucrats don't deserve my loyalty, the brave men sacrificing themselves for a better tomorrow do, the innocent lives who were lost in terrorist attacks do.
The CIA stands nothing to gain by attacking American soil. The CIA has never engaged in the use of biological agents on civilians -- can we say the same for the Russians, of whom you served under in your day? I remember Afghanistan. If anything, it reeks of KGB.
We let our PMCs do the security and cleanup work -- when it was at its worst, the soldiers did the fighting in the sandbox. How you dishonor them by implying Blackwater is in some way superior to our men in uniform is a disgrace.
You know me, you know I don't care about lines on a map, the president, or the Coalition governing body -- in short, I'm no longer the idealist I was. My history speaks for itself. I care about the people who stand to lose so much from you and your employer's obscene plan to deny them the cure, and I trust the new general, AKA, to be another man of decent character who will understand the nature of this war and not let politics get in my way.

I wouldn't want you to go away - I need an "enemy" on the field. We add interest to the game over on SO when we're going overboard pretending (or maybe not? tongue:) ) to hate each other that much. Interest means people come to see what the big deal is... and then they get sucked into a game unlike any other in scenario paintball.
To stir the friendly rivalry pot a bit more, you coming to GBG? You wanted your shot at me while I was in command, there it is.

First quarter

January:
NEW YORK (AP) - Medipharmatronics released its end of the year economic numbers and showed a four percent increase in profits over last year. However, on this news the company’s stock price fell 13 points from $55.5 per share to $43.5 as the earnings fell far short of its forecast. Years ago, Medipharmatronics borrowed heavily to create its own koolamula fern farms across the globe and cultivated a promising business because of the plants’ healing powers and a new line of products based on them.
February:
NEW YORK (AP) - “The Global Depression” entered its sixth year and the world economy again failed to show any signs of growth. A record number of companies closed their doors in the previous year only further swelling the ranks of the unemployed. The public’s faith in private and public institutions continued to sink to all time lows.
March:
KARACHI (AP) - The United States and its allies increased its support of the military government in Pakistan. Allied troops in concert with Pakistani troops won a number of engagements with Taliban and Al-Qaeda forces, but were unsuccessful in bringing an end to the hostilities. The increased involvement further stretched the Coalition, which was already spread across the globe in reaction to the rise in ethnic, religious and other conflicts worldwide due to the global depression.

April:
LONDON (AP) - A general strike that spanned Europe for nearly three weeks crippled many countries and spawned numerous riots. The inability of governments to respond and ensure normalcy and basic services intensified the call for upheaval. Envision Anarchy, which seeks “the downfall of civilization as we know it,” is credited with organizing the continent-wide general strike.
May:
ROME (AP) - The government of Italy collapsed as a result of their handling of the economy and after effects of its powerlessness to Aprils' general strike and resulting riots. Summer Olympics scheduled for Rome in July were cancelled.
June:
CAPE TOWN (AP) - In Johannesburg, South Africa 57 people were killed in a chemical attack in the city’s business district. Envision Anarchy has stepped forward to claim responsibility. The chemical agent used was previously unknown.

July:
NEW YORK (AP) - Medipharmatronics’ stock fell in response to negative publicity from a 60 Minutes exposé on the number of deaths at the hands of its mercenaries protecting their koolamula farms.
August:
NEW YORK (AP) - Wall Street and several other financial markets across the world closed for two days as a result of a cyber attack. Envision Anarchy claimed responsibility for the coordinated shut down of the financial markets and pointed to it as further proof the world’s public and private institutions are failing the general public.

A number of us have camped at Willow River State Park in the past. We have contacted them recently about camping there this year, as well. Apparently they have had considerable problems with paintballers disregarding rules and in general, being complete jerk-offs (I assure you, the members of the BadgerBrigades were not involved).
As a result, we were told that if there are any problems with any paintballers, all paintballers camping there will be told to leave with no refunds! This includes having any paintball markers out of their cases (not allowed in Wisconsin on State-owned land!), any under age drinking, and any loud or boysterous behavior after 10PM.
As a result, the majority of my organization has decided to forgo camping this year and will be staying at a local motel, which was kind enough to offer us a group discount.
Am I the only person who finds this to be particularly disturbing? All it takes is a few immature paintballers to give the sport another black eye and ruin it for everyone. I really enjoyed camping at Willow River (when the Park Nazis left us alone), and am going to miss it, but I won't risk my money/weekend on the chance that someone else may screw it up for me.
What a drag.

Reminds me of the hotel chains that refuse to host paintballers because of the NPPL (or was it PSP? It was one of the pro circuits) having some crazy players and fans trash the place during a big alcohol party.
So disgusting how the few idiots in our community can somehow speak for all of us.
I'll be honest, I'd be tempted to not tell Willow River who you are or why, just a bunch of friends camping for a weekend. I know that could be construed as dishonesty, but if they don't ask, do you have to volunteer more information than needed?
I wouldn't blatantly lie to them, but I wouldn't give out more private information than need be.
On a brighter note, I sent a heads up to Lo at Recon Online, along with an article (I took the liberty of interviewing our two generals). Hopefully, it'll get published and draw some more interest to the Hunt.

Since you folks are organizing this shin-dig, can you folks try to keep a few parking spaces in mind for handicapped folks?
I know it might be a hard thing to do, but speaking for myself, it would be greatly appreciated if I can get a spot reasonably close to the action.
I am a member of team Woodland Security and will be in attendance. If it don't work out, (close parking) I can certainly live with it, but I'd appreciate saving what energy I have for the game.
Thanks a lot,
Gramps
Gramps's Nurcing home donated thier short bus for the day so all us Woodland Security boys could get front row Parking,They even added padded helmets for the ride up. Tell the administrator thanks Gramps....( just kidding of course) We were thinking of making gramps's huverRound into a tank. kinda like a flinstone tank, lol. We love gramps, can't ya tell

Elmo was one of those mysterious prop items out there. The Coalition captured him last year.
I can't seem to recall him doing anything to help us (perhaps we didn't interrogate or bribe him enough hs:) ), and I know in the end some players shot him (of which I as XO never did endorse nor authorize)
I see he's returned, alive and well. Hopefully those Coalition players won't open fire on him again.
I'm sure Wild Bunch may or may not be willing to divulge more, but that's what I recall.

The following is a work of FICTION. It is neither news, nor a reflection of the world's current affairs. It is merely provided for players who want a bit more insight into this years' Hunt for the Cure storyline. Teasers will be released weekly until the event.
“Good Morning Mr. President,” chimed a chorus of advisors as they filed into the Oval Office and took their seats.
“Thank you everyone for coming,” said President Bruce Campbell while he finished buttoning his top shirt button and the Windsor knot on his tie. “I apologize for the short notice, but Director McCullock has some critical new intelligence on yesterday morning’s Envision Anarchy chemical attack in Mexico City. Jane please start us off...”
“One of the more mysterious things about the Mexico City attack was the lack of any delivery mechanism being found at the site. You may remember they were quickly found in the HVAC system in Johannesburg and the train stations in Osaka. ” McCullock unnecessarily remarked as everyone in the room knew the specifics of the earlier attacks inside-out. They had gone over the details of those events hundreds of times, but each time coming no closer to capturing the Envision Anarchy culprits. “Last night we found what appears to be the dispersal device used.”
“Are we sure there were not more?” questioned Secretary of State Jonathon Hall. “It is hard to believe one unit could have distributed the necessary lethal doses, especially in an open air setting. It took three in closed air facilities in Osaka to reach only a third of the fatalities of yesterday’s attack.”
Looking quite distressed McCullock sadly reported, “We were only able to discover it after determining the likely area of effect and projecting a center point, which is where we found it. It was not easy, as those affected quickly scattered once they felt the agent fall on them. It is only slightly larger than past ones, but a much more sophisticated contraption. In addition, the residue suggests the potency of the chemical is a great deal stronger, so a much smaller amount would only be needed to be deadly.”
“With the lawlessness of the northern Mexican provinces and hordes of refugees fleeing across the border, we have to assume infected folks are within the U.S…,” started Under Secretary of Defense Raymond Mortiez before being cut off by the President.
“That is correct, which is why I ordered an increased presence on and a complete sealing of the Mexican border”, quipped President Campbell. “To prevent its unintentional spread and block the agents of Envision Anarchy (EA) that performed the attack from entering the country, if they haven’t crossed already. However, we still have the issue of those EA members and sympathizers that are American citizens, which may already be planning and have the tools to carry out a local attack. Jane, how have we fared with securing additional supplies of the koolamula fern derived antidote, if heaven forbid an attack occurs within the U.S?”
“Mr. President, not well” softly answered Director McCullock. “Medipharmatronics still refuses to sell the product to us or companies likely to sell to the American market. They are still bitter over the Coalition’s previous attempts to secure the koolamula fern. Former Coalition nations are experiencing similar failures to acquire it.”
“Its just too convenient for EA to show up on the scene just when it looked like Medipharmatronics was going to collapse on its own. Jonathon, its time for you to contact our previous allies in the Coalition,” ordered President Campbell as he turned to gaze out of the West Wing’s large windows. “Its time we put an end to their operations. I want action in the next seven days!”

Actually, the coalition got outplayed last year.
Coalition was ahead until the mercs destroyed their own cities to prevent the coalition from taking the vials contained within. With no engineers present, they effectively denied the coalition points while completing their own missions. Throwing paint, mowing faces, we encourage that, but it won't win you a mission based scenario game.

I beleive there are militia, there are alot of players that are not on the forum that register with the mercs. The coalition just has some die hard players on here. Many of the walk ons also go to the mercs. It may not seem like they are powerful in that way, but they won last year.

Hmmm. I would like to take a brief moment to thank all of you Coalition members for providing me with such interesting reading material for the last several weeks. I have done extensive research on each of your listed teams and have solid Intel on most of them.
Very helpful indeed.
Not only have you shared way more than I would have allowed if I were your General (some of you would be stood up against the wall and shot for giving out Intel so freely), but all your chest thumping and bragging has been very amusing as well. You have no idea what you are about to walk in to. No idea at all.
Oh, btw, it's GW or Ghostwolf... not Ghost Wolf, GhostWolf or ghostpuppy (I recall AKA saying something about getting people's names right). As for the ghostpuppy comment... that was a mistake. I run a multistate organization, who exactly are you? Your name (and reputation) slips from my memory as soon as I read drivel like that.
And the name of my organization is The BadgerBrigades. All one word, two capital Bs, trademarked and copywritten. Remember that...
General AKA, I salute you and your assembled army as we head into the final days of preparation. You have done an admirable job of recruiting, including landing some teams I had hoped to acquire. I give you my word that we shall fight against you honorably and respectfully. I also promise you that you will find the Mercs well prepared, with every claw and fang honed to razor sharpness.
I will speak well of you when I squeeze your heart's blood into my chalice to be drunk in honor of our victory. Bunker Blowhard, on the other hand, will not be so fortunate. His death will come slowly, and with great agony.

Although you guys are worse than normal...

As for the ghostpuppy comment... that was a mistake. I run a multistate organization, who exactly are you? Your name (and reputation) slips from my memory as soon as I read drivel like that."
HA HA HA laughing:) well if you can pull yourself from behind your Merc's and come into the front lines to prove your a wolf and not a puppy I'll be ready and waiting.
I will speak well of you when I squeeze your heart's blood into my chalice to be drunk in honor of our victory. Bunker Blowhard, on the other hand, will not be so fortunate. His death will come slowly, and with great agony.

He won't have to walk far, the front line will be just outside his CP.

If it was right before the end of a round, then it was probably me, but I didn't get away, Darrin lit me up good. I never did know if I hit him, or anyone else, turned into a hornets nest in a hurry.

It's better to have them see you coming and still not be able to do anything to stop you, than to have to sneak up and hope they don't see you :p

sniper:)That's not me, lol. Tried it once and I lasted about 15 mins of being patient before I said screw it and ran off throught the woods with my tac capped, 23" barreled, all ghillied up A5 looking for some people to shoot.:D
And personally, I don't want to die of dehydration or burst into flames while slowly sneaking around the field There are people who wear ghille at OK DDay when it's 90 degrees out....I'm pretty sure they should be put into a mental institution.

The following is a work of NON-FICTION. It is actual news, a reflection of the world's current affairs. It is merely provided for players who want a bit more insight into this years' Hunt for the Cure storyline.
Splat Tag (Hudson, WI)
Ghostwolf, merc commander, is sitting inside his CP when he hears a rustling behind him. He slowly looks outside only to see his forces with guns up and and an ever present sense of defeat in the air. He steps out a bit further to see what has caused this silent slaughter. Suddenly..SMACK..his gogles turn pink! What was that he thinks to himself in total shock and why are the 50 elite Badger Brigade players guarding me doing nothing!? Ghostwolf whipes his gogles and can now see that his protectors have all surendered out of shear teror of the dark figures who are now silently sliding through their base. In a matter of seconds the figures disapear like ghosts. No one could say anything except for one quivering soldier, "#12..I saw #12".

To my Worthy opponent General Ghostwolf; I am very glad to hear hat you have enjoyed reading up on the ramblings of the Coalition Forces. If you were able to get some critical data to use against me from their months of preperation to do Battle, then I applaud your ways of intel. gathering. For I myself had made no sence of it at all, other than the fact that do not take to kindly of having to come back to do what they nearly had done one year ago. It is also to my understanding, that they Will Not be so unfortunite to allow You and your Force to Claim this Battle as yours.
I myself prefer walking into Battle not knowing my enemy or their secrets, for this will surely clutter my thoughts for when Fate delivers my platter, to which I will then deliver a Sound that has not yet been heard by You or your followers. But they will surely wonder what they have gotten themselves into, when the Sound enters their minds and making them unable to render a thought. So take what you know about us, and use it as best you can, because it's the unknown that I Await.:character0095:
I will now Thank-You for your kind words to Me, and I look forward to an Honorable meeting of the Generals. I will also let you know that I do not use Smack Talk to pump up, I am old and over that now, and have learned that I am only 50% right when I slam what I don't know.:)/AKA *US* Coalition Forces General/HFTC"09
