i'm not a noob but this seems to be the only Q&A section... i just picked up a vsc phantom(my first) & i'm looking to get the barrel bored out for inserts... anyone know of a place in the metro area that will do it??? i know o'dells will but i'd rather not have to wait a week or 2 if i can just walk in some place & get it done while i'm standing there

I doubt anyone will do this procedure "while you wait."

really??? it couldn't take more than like 10mins... the only hard part is getting it centered in the press... the actual work on the barrel can't take more than a min or 2

i'd rather not if i can just spend $30 or whatever & send it to o'dells... i already have the inserts sitting here from a freak kit so i may as well put them to use

edit: kind of a stupid question... can i just pop out the puncture pin section of the 12g changer & slap a 3.5 oz in there or do i need a new vert air adapter??? looks like there is a seem there so i don't see why i couldn't just pop it out... i just can't get it out with my hands so before i get to wrenching on it i figured i'd ask

I'm just worried that the freak insert is gonna effect your chrono by putting extra drag on the ball, phantoms dont like being messed with sometimes, it usually takes me 30mins-2hrs to get the chrono back up to 300 after I change something.

I know $70 sounds like a lot, but consider it a totaly proven pwnage investment. ;)

But, if you do find a shop that will bore it for you, let me know. Your idea sounds better, Im just curious how well it will work.

if you don't underbore by a lot i don't see it putting anymore drag on the ball than normal... i like the whole sleeper look to which is another reason to do the stock barrel

i know for a fact that O'Dell's (http://www.odells-paintball.com/) will do it... was just hoping to track down a local place to save on time since this is my only pump now(dumped the sniper for this plus random sc gear & a halo) & i don't know that i can go without for that long ;)

St. Marys PA, yikes...! Im not sure of any local machine shops that will, anyone with good tooling knowledge and a metal lathe should be able to mill it out for you.

I can second the python kit, I have had mine for years and it works great for me!

I dont know any local places to get the barrel bored out for freak inserts but I know White Wolf Airsmithing does it, as well as Doc and a few others. Some people sell them as frantom (sp?) barrels.

I have only heard good things about barrels with freak inserts, they say its worth it. Let us know how it goes!

there is a barrel out there that will take the freak inserts, they look just like the stock acid wash barrel. the only problem is that I cant remember where I saw it at.

Gumby has been known to bore them out with out issues.
