Man. sometimes its fun having a camera man with you. I gotta say ,We had no idea what we were getting into being a big scenario style squad. No excuses, we went to Support Mn and get SPPL here, We had Fun,Is it our style of play? Maybe not,......will we do another SPPL style tourney? ......Hech yea. We'll just get a few runners and train a little harder.
The key is to be agressive in a fast paced game.those hills kill old farts like me. lol

Kinda wish a few more faces we saw all summer would have joined us.Mn.Militia,Konoha,damage inc,DEA,WIP SOG,just to name a few. I know 2 weeks notice was hard. specially for us.

Yes field #2 for this event was the toughest field I have ever seen.

Once a team lost the ridge there was almost no taking it back.

Knowing what I know now (how the field plays out & all of the leafs being gone) I would have not laid the field out like that.

Next year we will do it before the Fall. :)

Personally I really like field 2. It was small, but because of the uphill run it took you a while to reach the swing base. Both sides had a "thicker" side the close one being with the group of fallen trees. I really hope to play it again!

Maybe having it in like June-Augest might not be to bad of an idea either. I know a few teams who would have loved to go, but College is a little more important. Just an idea I had. Thought I would share.

us Pelicans never played that field. And I'm happy about that. it looks like that field was not made for woodsball at all. That was a speedballers dream. We did pretty good on the maze field, field 1. I think we would have been brutally beaten if we played field 2 all day.

I do agree that feild 2 was a speedballers dream. we got hit hard but never quit fighting for the hill. We did like field 1 better. But you do realize that SPPL is formatted towards the fast paced style play which is what speedballers do all the time. we just need to revamp our strategy for the next SPPL tourney.

Did you ever hear the reason we didn't play Aces on that field in game 3? I'm glad we played all three in the Maze.

There is no such thing as "speedballers" or "woodsballers".

There are good paintball players and those still learning.

AA showed up to that SPPL deal with almost half our team never having played woodsball.

Does anyone have video footage of playing AA?

BTW: I loved the hill field, it was a total shooting gallery.

Absolutely agreed. We're all paintball players. We all have strengths and weaknesses, and we're all always learning something new (or we should be if we aren't).

I play in the woods most of the year, but come Minnesota winter you can find me at Air Assault with my pump guns or a pistol.

There is NO WAY you can say a person is "still learning" if they are not good at speedball but kick a** at woodsball. They are two different formats of games. Each relying on different tactics and equiptment.

The equipment isn't too different, aside from personal preferences.

The same core skills (angles, communication, teamwork, snapshooting) are needed for both forms of paintball.

There are a few strategies that vary, but largely the same basic ideas hold for both versions of paintball.

I don't know what Game you played in, but it seems to me the one I played in against the Aces would constitute a retraction on your statement.:p

Can and will say that. See it all the time.

The basic paintball skill set is universal.

ALSO BRENT AND TIM ARE RIGHT.!! WOW, FOR REAL, THE ONLY MAJOR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE GAME IS THE MARKER STYLE AND THAT REFLECTS THE PLAYER MORE THAN THE GAME, AND THE SPEED AT WHICH THE GAME TEMPO IS PLAYED.

Oh I love you too Nate! My reply was to simply, only out of respect to our Members who showed for this event. We fielded 6 regulars 7 counting myself, and 1 new for 1 week and 2 that joined that day. Now you know we have never played, much less practiced Team play and surely our group that day had never assembled to play this type of Game. But the group that played for the Pelican Brigade that day prooved to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Teams, that they would never have been "Stomped". So with due respect to the Members that Showed and played that day, I have recognized your talents if no one else has. MondoMor had simply asked a ?, and had gotten a Dis- for a reply, so I hope you are seeing as to where I am coming from when I say: moon:) /tongue:)AKA

From what I have observed over the years from the many players I see come and go, is how the Markers of today have have changed alot of how we play the Game. whether it be in the woods or in an arena. When I started playing, (in the woods) the markers were very slow, inacurate and very undependable. So we played slowly, cautiously and quietly, knowing we only had a few shots before we had to scramble away for a safe place to clean the barrel for our next encounter. In other words much like a new player does today. But as the Markers have improved and have become more dependable so has our ability to play with much more agressive behavior. A new player is going to learn just how much aggressiveness he can push by how well his marker can lead him. How to use the bunkers or cover to make your moves is quickly learned as by how much you play. So Trees or Air Cones its all the same, but if your marker fails so does your game./AKA
