I'll start it off. Go ahead and give me the good, the bad, and the ugly. beret:)
Well it was all good in my opinion. I was a little worried about following along with the theme or scenario since I never saw the movie. But it turns out it was no worries. Things ran very well. The missions were fun and the battles were intence. All in all very much worth the 30 bucks. Thanks for that by the way.
Also thanks for all your time and hard work You and the Malitia put into your event. Like I told you B4, I know I could'nt do it. The day played out very well and the people that attended were the people you'd like to see at every Game. Also I for one did'nt mind atol the early "GAME-OVER".:)
Good Job to everyone that made it possible. I am glad to have attended./AKA

I had a blast! Especially the last couple hours when the Alliance started picking their game. I did think the field might have been a touch big for the amount of people we had, 50-100 more would have been a good number for the field size I think. But I understand you didn't know how many people would show up; what was the final count anyway? 250 or so?
I don't have any "bad" or "ugly" to report, although, I will tattle on myself. I wish some people had used a little bit better paint. During an attack on a base I heard multiple hits on my pod pack, but I felt it, and asked teamates to look at it (they were 10 yards behind me) but they said it was just fine. Although, after I took a shot to the hopper and was walking past them to go reinsert they pointed out some wet spots on my pod pack. I had been hit, but with some REALLY watery green paint that you could only seen if you were looking really close.
I also want to apologize to whoever it was who hit my pod pack during our big push to the Browncoat base. Yes I heard you yell like 20 times that I was hit on the pod pack, but I had teamates check it and even a ref a minute later and they all said I was clean. But the next time I got air I took off my pack and checked and right inbetween two of the pods was a hit. I have no clue how that shot got snuck in there, but while my pack was on it wasn't at all visible.
So there is my confession:character0095:
But overall, a great scenario. That is actuall the first scenario I've attended where there have been missions with props and the like, I just eliminated people and took ground, but it was pretty sweet. Gotta love the stuffed cows laying around tooberet:)

This was a very special day for me. My biggest dream came true. My wife played paintball with me. She had a great day and most people were surprised it was her first time. she had no fear to add to a attack or push.I guess she figured I couldnt say No so she better stick with me. Ish,darla, and I crawled a dear path right behind a fully armed blue base . I got 4 or 5 to surender then got lit up. how was I supposed to know there was a mother load of blues there.my wife was still in the bushes. as I walked away dead, I looked back and saw a crew of guys circling the bushes. I yelled out hey guys its her first time playing ,she will surrender.dont light her up.She came out. We were in a mission with Mustangman to retrieve something from the reivers base, Chad(the preditor dude with a golden gun,My wife and I were point. we raided the bace and one of the guys said we cant fire within 50 ft. of there base. we all three got pretty little lipstick marks on our necks,Thanks for doing it honorably Gismo.LOL. I guess it was a "MY BAD" for not totally knowing the rules.
at the end of the day ish darla and I desided to join a battleship suiside mission to go up the hill and We got masacred.but it was fun.
My only problem for the day was My Marker. It was running flawlessly but one reff said it was shooting to fast and one said it was fine. So I had to spend a hour clearing it up. thanks Badger for checking my Marker and giving me a green light and a card with your signiture on it saying it was ok'd.
I will post more later. gotta get to work. Darla said she will play again.YIPEE

Well it was our base lol. So a battleship did get out and about? I never saw one, and did River get to destroy any bases at all or not, I never saw her during the game either.
Badger
07-22-2008, 10:31 AM
I was told that River got to destroy two bases, but according to her personal referee, she was hidden for most of the game by her brother, one of the Browncoat handlers. Such a shame, as I wanted her to be more part of the game, rather than held prisoner and not in the game. That's not what I had in mind... :(

I have copied and pasted this from my post on the MMPT forum....:)
Oh my god what an incredible BSV turned into, apart from me almost collapsing from heat exhaustion and mussel spasms from dehydration. Thank you Rouge for watching out for me and getting me some water back at H.Q. I felt pretty useless there for a while sorry guys.
I got to command my first mission in a game we had to find and lock up a base, this was a great time coordinated with a number of team member and got the job done fast, apart from on the way back to H.Q. is when I had the heat exhaustion and had to hand off the mission card to my XO for the mission (sorry can remember your name but we played most of the day together fun times) The good news is I did find a money bag to bring back to H.Q. so I didn’t return empty handed lol
I do remember hiking all the way over to Whitefall all the way around the back way. There was about 6 of us head to take Whitefall, I was upfront and we spotted Reaver on a path that crossed us. They didn’t see us we all hit the deck to the sides of our path on either side. We watched the hole Reavers squad move up there path and right by us, it looked like they were on a mission and heading in the direction of Whitefall also. We decided to let them pass (we could of taken them all out and they wouldn’t of know what happened to them) It was a good thing we let them pass, because after a few minuets we heard the sounds of the double troubles and that was the sign for us to move up. They were on there way to Whitefall and took out most of the brown coats there. So we held back and let the Reavers do most of our job for us. Once the Reavers were done and had either been tagged out or moved on we made our move and took Whitefall with minimum resistance. Not long after taking the base I get tagged out and had to hump all the way back to H.Q. that part sucked lol.
The final mission “The Train Job” what a full on non stop fire fight that was I was protection the back of the train for the most part picking of the Brown coat trying to flank us. Was up on the front line a few time for support, but Junior and I figured protecting the train was key, no train no job lol I remember near the end a couple of guys tried to flank us I yelled out for Junior for support he ran right into a shower of paint from this one guy I had pinned down about 20 yard from my location. There were 2 other Alliance members to the right of me. The plan was I would keep the Brown coat busy while they flanked him worked like a charm he didn’t see them coming, all his attention was on me and the fire we were exchanging back and forth. Once we had removed these last flanking Brown coats we made our way up the train to the tank just in time for the last push and we all opened up on the brown coat with suppressive fire to allow the train to pass on to there base. GAME OVER ALLIANCE VICTORIOUS!!!!

that was me - no problem, I had a couple of the same types of hits - really watery paint - all the fill had separated and it was like orange and green cool-aid - which doesn't show well on clothes.
I was playing pump so I was tracking my shots well - and I knew that I put one in there. No hard feelings.
Badger - good game overall, had a good time. Nice call on cutting it short - I was 5 pounds lighter when I arrived home then when I left - and I put down more than a gallon of water throughout the day.
Good:
* great scenario theme, firefly / serenity
* good refs
* great field layout
* good mission to TV / movie mission tie ins
* Reavers were a nice touch
Bad:
* Too few refs
* Some rule / mission confusion
* There were a few missions that were designed in a way that made them lopsided
For the Ugly I'll just go with the small amount of cheating I did experience. Late in the day as tension mounted there was a slight increase in overshooting and wiping. Not as bad as I've experienced in the past - and as the post above mentioned - some of it may have been caused by paint issues, but I did have a few clean kills that didn't leave.
I don't want to start a flame war, and I think you did a great job - so I'll PM you more details on the Bad / Ugly if you're interested.
Thanks, great game. Maybe after you've rested for a few months you'll be willing to do another one next year.
Thanks to everyone who worked hard and played hard on this thing.
MustangMan - nice work, good playing for you.

Yeah, I kept seeing players walking off looking like they wanted a quick, painless death to end their misery, so I had to make an executive decision. Glad no one complained about that. After I contacted both generals simultaneously, I made the call.
Good:
* great scenario theme, firefly / serenity
* good refs
* great field layout
* good mission to TV / movie mission tie ins

I love the series/movie, so it was a no-brainer to try and make a scenario game out of it.
My refs were my teammates, and that's why I wanted a HUGE round of applause for them. It was their first try at being refs.
I'm glad you liked the field. I wish I could make it more flat, but that's how God wanted it when He created it, so we're stuck with hills and dense brush. lol
You have no idea how much thought process went into missions and storyline references. I wanted something you all would remember for years to come.
Reavers were cool, but boy was I ever scared I might have TOO MANY Reavers. Glad no one complained about that either. beret:)
Bad:
* Too few refs
* Some rule / mission confusion
* There were a few missions that were designed in a way that made them lopsided.
So sorry about the lack of refs. I had enough confirming they'd be there beforehand, but issues came up for some that kept them home. I'm glad the ones that DID show up compensated as much as they could. That's another reason I wanted you all to give them a HUGE round of applause.
Yeah, what seems cool in my head and on paper doesn't always translate to a great idea in use, so sorry about that with the rules and missions. I guess in every scenario event, there are always bugs to be worked out. :(
For the last one, see above. Again, I gambled. beret:)

Good:
It's another scenario, always a good sign
It's Firefly themed, also good
Good staff
New ideas (train job, reavers)
Bad:
Some mission confusion (especially the Miranda mission)
Ugly:
These fall under two categories, neither of which were any fault of Badger's or the event staff.
-Weather conditions (again, nobody's fault at all - this just happens) and their after effects (paint bouncing or not showing up, leading to more shots to compensate).
-People flaring as a result of all the not ideal factors at once. Yeah, the weather was hostile. Yeah, there were a lot of paint problems. Take a bunch of hot, sweaty, tired, and frustrated people trying to get a clean shot on someone and it's bound to happen.
I know I'm not immune to this either. I added to it, I reacted, so I'll apologize for my part of the ugly.

Well I had a good time overall. I was the tank gunner for the day wearing the Hawaiin shirt and shorts, which really felt good being inside of the tank which was about 20 degrees hotter than it was outside.
Good: Reffing was pretty good despite the shortage.
Reavers were hilarious and good sports
The emphasis on base control was a nice touch
Bad / Ugly: HOT SHOOTING!!!! I was very dissapointed with the number of people I ran into that I KNOW were cranking up the heat on their guns. I have the bloody welts to prove it. Plus, our tank made a great run and captured four Alliance bases including their main base. They didn't seem to like that so when they reinserted they shot through the gap in the back of the turret and gave me six good welts. Two of which almost bled. 300a:)
They also ripped through the iron meshed screening on the back. There is no way that players shooting at 280 fps could have ripped iron carpentry tacs out of 1/2 inch plywood and put a near hole in the screening itself! Madtank:)
Darrin at least gave some helpful suggestions for next time and I am thankful to him for the donated case of paintb but I was still troubled and I don't care what anyone says to try to justify that experience. "Well maybe the screening wasn't strong enough..." is what one guilty member of the group tried to tell me after. I tested each screened window with my gun shooting 300 fps from 15 feet away and nothing even remotely came close to damaging the screening. Even with concentrated fire I won't believe that 280 fps would rip through the screening.
Enough of that. I had a blast driving to bases and lighting people up with our tanks Quadzilla. The whole day we only got shot out once by a LAW. Other times we went back were to refill on ammo and water. Went through a good 9-10 k rounds during the day and ALOT of them were spent on Persephone since that's where Reavers, Alliance, and Browncoats all seemed gather. My little bro also got a couple kills sitting up front in the drivers seat shooting through the gun ports. That was his first game so I'm glad he got some action.
Kylestar also came with us for one of our base runs and got some good footage which I hope to see when he gets the video up. Thanks for coming along Jude!

Well the weather wasnt in our favor for the game. That is a given. Thanks for making the call to short the game an hour. I know there were a lot of browncoats who would have tried to push it and that could have been trouble.
As for the battle ships. The next time I decide to lead one up an allaince controled hill would some one please remind me to wear a football helmet or something. I still have about 7 lumps on the top of my head. Thanks for those lumps Nate :P
even though i had to end up leaving the game early i still had a blast and was able to do the one thing i realy wanted to for the day... Capture miranda, even if it was only for a few minutes it was fun to sneak up and switch the pole to blue.

Yeah, I was one of the guys reinserting when that happened. I just simply ducked into the woods and went around the tank, but I know a lot of the guys who reinserted with me were a little ticked at your tank...I don't know anything about the shooting hot/or not, but they lit up your tank. But the bloody welts may have also been because you had a thin shirt on. (right? It was a really lightweight shirt)
The final battle was awesome by the way. Me, a friend, and two other guys that joined up with us took a left after we took the tower field. We took out two guys right up on top of the hill, then continued moving down and around until we came right up to the Browncoat deadzone and started sneaking up on their last fort in our way. I was eliminated quickly by a Browncoat who somehow got behind us, but I am happy that I got him too.:) It was pretty sweet, it was a bad time for him to shoot at my back because my adrenaline was already up from being only 50 yards behind the base. I started to crouch right as he shot and he nailed the tree right above my shoulder; then I did this sweet spinning/firing/kneeling/ninja thing and traded out with him. Yes it was a ninja thing...all 270 ninjaee pounds of me:D
Anyway, my three remaining squad members eliminated the 6 or so Browncoats in the base and threw the door wide open for the train to come a running in.
I have to say that the final battle was definately the most intense part of the game for me; taking the tower field, and then leading a modest flanking team was awesome.
Thank you Badger for putting this on.
Thank you Splat tag for hosting it.
Thank you Refs for doing a good job despite your few numbers.
And thank you everyone who showed up and played!

1. Hot weather at the end could have caused 300+ spikes. I know alot of people at Splat Tag and i dont believe any of them would Intentonally try to cause someone harm
2. Concentrated fire from multiple scources can rip through even the most sturdy Netting/Mesh
3. Leaving that HUGE gap in the rear of the turret just invites paintballs
4. Wear a heavier shirt next time :P
I actually like the design of the Senti-Tank The Coot is a great platform to start with. and i am partial to the Quadzilla setup that it carries :P With some Redesign work and a little elbow grease this off season it will be a force to be reckoned with. I myself am considering building a Tank this off season more along the lines of the Milita-Tank on a 8x8 Argo or a shorter version like Damage Incs AutoMagnus they had at one time.
I was running around taking pictures and heard alot of good things coming from players about this game. From the short time i was there (Damn Work Calling) Badger put on a excellent Game Kudos to the MMPT for thier reffing work and all the stand up play from the players :scared0012:

I know is that when I first picked up the mesh material, I tested it with a hopper-full at 15 BPS at 15 feet without any sign of trouble.
I also know that I'm choosing to stay out of the discussion pertaining this incident/lack of incident, as I wasn't actually there and thus anything I would have to say is speculation, and not really worth saying because that's all it could be - speculation.
So, either there were velocity spikes (accidental or intentional) or my testing was flawed. From an objective viewpoint, I cannot determine which from here.
The point is - **** happens, for whatever the cause, it happens. The best thing to do is to plan for it in the future as best as possible.
EDIT: I didn't know something that rhymes with "rap" was censored. I figured that was clean enough.

Watching the enslaught of paint that was aimed at the rear window, I wasn't suprised that the mesh came un-fastened. From my vantage point in the command tent at blue base, every player was aiming at that window to keep the gunner down. It may have with stood one marker at 15 feet, but 15 markers at 15-50 feet may have been over it's threshold.200a:)

Like I said, I'm really not convinced by any of these other scenarios but thanks for the tips and stuff. The entire day was a blast up till that five minutes of hell but I'll live. And I'm definitely coming up with an enclosed turret for the next game!:scared0012:
Plus, about shooting hot, if Badger himself at the end of the day has to make an announcement about people shooting hot, I'm pretty sure it was happening out there.
The only gun that shot at me all day that I thought might be hot was from the Senti-Tank.
But I am sure the owner and/or a tank ref would have been honest and tested each gun on the day of the game and in front of a ref.
I think guns like that should be set even lower then everyone else,
especially since 99% of everyone hit by the tank is over shot. takeo:)
I for one love the challenge. If you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen! baby:)

Just so you know I had the Quadzilla turned to 260 fps since that's what it was at for the Hunt and I hadn't touched it since then. My automag was also at 280. I totally agree with you that it should be turned down at least slightly because of bonus balling. 64 shots a second is pretty hard to dodge!
Yeah watching darrin completely destroy my infantry support was comical since they didn't even know where he was. recon:)
I did get you twice during the day though. Once with my automag out the back of the tank at Wild Bunch base when you were behind that big tree popping me in the back and the other time with the LAW.
Yes you did great job! I was only taken out five time all day and two were by you. :scared0012:

This game was also very fun for me also.
The good: geting to be the turret gunner in the Ace's Tank
Being medic on the edge of giant when the browncoats tried to run a battle ship up the hill. Whenever one of the men or women got hit I would crawl and "heal" them and they would lay it into them again. I felt a little sorry for whoever was there. The referee even hide 300a:)
Solid refereeeing despite the shortage -
The reavers really caused damage all day long - i ran into them all over the field. Many players told awesome stories of your exploits! dribble:)
the bad: almost losing the turret, and then the tank breaking down - leaving me to be on foot the rest of the day.

Thanks for the great game Badger and Militia!

I was on the Alliance side and a member of Bunker Busters. Our 4 man team accomplished alot, 9 coin bags and took out an entire force of browncoats to take over a base. There was a little confusion inside of that base, oops. My teammate is a little too quick on the trigger!! Awsome time, other than the ticks and heat. Thank you Woodland Security, always fun playing with you guys, excellent example of sportsmanship and ethics. Sorry about the blue paint I know its a pain to clean off. Most memorable time is when the Sentinel tank came down the path and Darrin told us to shoot in the back of the turret, we asked if you can get the tank out that way, he said no but they guy inside will stop shooting for a little while!!!! Good Times!!! I am glad I wasn't one of the guys in the battle ship going up the hill, my hat is off to you guys taking all of those shots, I probably would have been in the fetal position after our team on the ridge started shooting. I was more than glad to light off the mortar for ya, it was the end of a very tiring day but well worth every pound I lost. If you change your mind for next year and need any help with anything just give us a hollar. Thank you again for everything Badger, refs, sponsors.

I had a great time. Good scenario with fun missions. The push to Browncoat base at the end was the best. Trying to attack the Reaver base, not such a good idea. I don't have any bad things about the game, but I do have some pointers for people at every game. Friendly fire, being over shot and getting shot when you are already dead will always happen. So when it does, if its your fault just say sorry! Don't yell at me and say its my fault when I was just walking down the middle of the path by myself with my gun pointed up. Anyways, everybody needs to calm down in those situations and forgive each other and move on.

I agree with Kyle! Let's do it again! Oh, and for the record, whoever had the neon yellow (I mean UNGODLY yellow... I swear it was glowing it was so bright) paint (probably Evil brand) --> IT'S NOT COMING OUT OF MY SHIRT!!!
I don't care because I'm not the type that normally dresses like that, but still, it was a little awkward having this bright yellow spot on my shirt that won't come out.
And again, I had so much fun shooting with and at everyone. Glad I got to play both sides!

Actually it was frank(ISH) my wife behind him(her first time ever playing)and me behind her on the left side of the battle ship. WE LOOK A BEATING.Ish had over 52 welts on his body the next day. Thankyou ISH for sheilding my wife from the beating. funny thought tho. no one was aiming for the target on the pole that kills the battleship. LOL

I looked and looked for the target but could not see it. so I settled for shooting the people trying to flank and move up the hill, I got 3-4 before the ship saw my position and unloaded on it then it was time for the LONG walk back to our re-spawn. all in all this was an awesome game badger, if you ever put on another one you can count on all the Bunker Busters coming again!!

I know just how Ish feels. I was on the front most point of that battle ship. I still have about 3 or 4 good welts on the top of my head.

That was awesome! And for the record, battleship, I was behind you all the way... really! And the medic was a nice touch for the ground troops. I've gotta try that sometime, but River couldn't have been a part of that. I love taking a good punishment (some people can testify to the flag pole tag in GBG where all of red was foot to the flagpole and shooting like there was no tomorrow, which at that rate, there wasn't)

I gotta say the battleship run was the worst beating I've ever had. would I do it again? Heck Yea!! I think half of the Alliance team was on the top of that hill.I was trying to protect my wife from getting blasted to heck while firing like a mad man.Ish kept tripping over Logs, lol when all was done and we went back to the respawn, she took off her mask and looked at Ish and I,we though, after that darla will never play again.all of a sudden she got a big smile on her face. that was awesome "she said' thankyou Mustangman for sending us, HEHEHE

For the first photo, the guy with the hat is "Jayne" the XO portrayed by Erndogg. The guy on the far right of the frame was the general "Malcolm Reynolds" portrayed by Mustangman (Matt Morin).

My Good: the Final battle I ran to the Planet (wild Bunch Base) and held that as the train took the tower fields. After I figured out that the Train passed I ran back to the tower and saw them and started shooting but my gun jammed so i only got about 5 shots off before everybody (I mean everybody) started shooting at the tree I was at. It was lucky that I stayed behind that tree because it sounded like a rain on a tin roof. I ran back (and some how got back clean) I told everyone at wild bunch (what was that base) that the train was pass us, so we ran back there. The train finally moved down the path from the tower so I sat under the tower and started lobbing paint at the train, then I got shot in the side of the mask and head to HQ.
Bad:
Heat and humidity (of course noone's fualt)
haulling the tub of death out to HQ and back
Ugly: Paint this was my fualt for not opening the case before I bought it. Anyone that tried my paint/flet my paint knows what I meant. I could have had 20 more eliminations if I had good paint.
Great Game Badger. I'm torn on volunteering to ref next year or playing.
Awsome idea on the "train job" final battle.
PS sorry Ish fo shooting you at the final battle when you came up to (Wild Bunch base)

Train guys, just be glad I didn't purchase a bunch of wooden ammo crates to form your train. lol beret:)

There is one for sale at CC Military Surplus for $20. If you ask nicely, though, you can buy their other two they use for their CO2 tanks and hoppers. ANYthing is for sale in that store.
