OK so here's the deal im gonna turn 36 this year, i know i know dont say it :)
I played paintball back home in England a few time back when it all first started, and loved it. I am really excitted about this scenario paintball. So my quseion is are there many people in my age bracken that get into this? i would like to join a small ops team, but have no idea where to start. i dont want to feel like the grandpa on the team though lol :) any input would be great. I brought myself the Tippman Alpha Black, I read alot of good reviews on, but would love your opinions?
looking forward to seeing what everyone has to say, be nice now :)

Our oldest guy on the Militia has more drive, spirit, and dedication to the sport than anyone else I can name. We may give him a hard time about being older, but he can outrun us, outplay us, and keep a positive attitude like no other man I know of on the team.
You're right in the middle of the age bracket for this sport. It's not all a bunch of kids out there. There are more adults playing the game than you might think.
Yes Badger is right. There are a lot of old men (36 and up) that play, and old women. :scared0012:
Speed isn't everything. And I am over 36 a little. :character00128:

What is too old for paintball?
Answer: Never. If you can't run, you can always be the gunner in a scenario tank.
In short, you can't be too old for paintball.
Well Welcome back to Paintball first of all. If your a member of Gold's gym you won't need that anymore. I'm 52 and I still tell the kids to hold on and I'll pull you up the hill.:D But I'll be honost I do sit out a Game from time to time to rest the legs, to many of 'em are taken me up on it.:rolleyes:/AKA

Well I can't answer too old but I can answer too young =9yr. ALso I think that some of the old players are definently dedicated to the sport more than most. (not me of course but that is a different story) I know atleast 5 guys in their 40s and 50s that owned 20 guys in my youth group ranging form 7th-12th grade (including me I'll admit that much but in my defense it was my 4th time playing). I and I believe everyone else in MN will welcome you with open arms and accept you as one of our own.
As for Great Scenario games coming up:
April 27 - Operation B**ch Slap
May 4 - Hunt For The Cure
May 25 - Jungle Rumble #3
June 7 - GIANT BIG GAME XIV
These are just the games at my field. There are a lot of great fields around if I were you I would check them all out! :)

Thanks Badger. And Bizzare, I'll challenge you any day.:p Too old? I'm 60 today and don't expect to stop playing soon. I think age is a mental thing...actually I've been accused of being metal very often. :D Get out and play! Hope to see you at Hunt For The Cure. Edited due to memory...I'm 61.

your never too old beacause when it hurts too walk around so much you build a paintball wheel chair ( a tank) then you can sit and kill all day

I gave this question some thought and came up with this answer. You are too old when paintball doesn't give you the rush that it use to and its all competion no fun. Well wait this is when paintball dies which will never happen so you don't have to worry about anything.

Well I dont brag about it but I am 41 and I play as much as I can. My team is made up of mostly 13-18 year olds so it is kind of a challenge to keep up but I love shooting everyone I dont discriminate on age.

I am thinking of getting a compressed air tank. what are everyones thoughts on comressed air over CO2?

Senior from the Rebels was a big inspiration for me. He allowed me a feeling of comfort, knowing that at his age he still had the lead in his pencil to come out and throw paint around with all of us. LOL he used Nates version of a wheelchair but it was still cool to see someone of his age out there playing. To be honest I have no idea how old he was but I know he had to be in his late 60's for sure or even older. Gosh I miss him coming out to the games, he was a hoot.
I plan on playing until my body basically makes me not able to. Having physical activities at a high age hopefully will keep me alive a little longer... LOL I don't want to be sitting on the couch watching wheel of fortune and then going to bed. I would much rather be out at the field having a good time...
Didn't somebody get shot in the pacemaker a couple years ago at a giant game? Stopped it cold, had to get a ambulance out in the woods? Maybe it was something completely different....
43 here, and dont plan on quitting any time soon.....

Gramps 99 here.
In response to your querie about age, I am proud to reply that I am 55 and walk with a cane. I still mount up my casualty count with the best of the young kids around. I just moved myself to the use of a pistol because it is easier to handle with one hand dedicated to use of the cane.
About scenarios: Some of the most fun games around here are held at Splat Tag. However, I have just been reading about the guys in the MN. Militia and it sounds like they have a good strong team going.
I live in Blooming Prairie MN. and I play a lot of weekends at XPHere Paintball in Faribault MN. They have a nice variety of playing fields and a lot of great kids playing there. Their opening weekend is planned for May 10th and 11th. Yeah!!! Mothers Day Weekend. But, let's remember Mothers Day is SUNDAY ONLY. that way I can sneak away on sat. to do some ballin.

I'm a ripe old 34 and really I'm just ripe. Get the HPA, its better for your marker, more shot to shot consistency, and its not all that expensive anymore, I just picked up a 68ci 3000psi tank for 60$.
On the marker it makes my cry that I can get a tricked out 98 for that price, does anyone know if it also has the ACT? In any case my old 98 is still running hard and has been the least troublesome of all my markers. It is always my backup and always works and I have no issues loaning it out so it does get regular use.
Chances are when I retire at 55 () I'll just play more paintball than I do now.

yeah, i myself am 15 and really starting to feel my many years catch up to me.laughing:)
to tell you the truth, age has absolutely no bearing on paintball. like many have stated before me, you're not the oldest one out there. most people out there are late 20's to 30's anyway.
co2 really doesn't stand up to compressed air. you get more consistency with compressed air and the air doesn't really expand and compress like co2 does often. compressed air also doesn't lock up your gun like co2 can. another plus is the extremely easy fill up. always a positive.:)
and gramps99, by any chance have you ever played at splat tag? because i do recall seeing an older fellow moving around with a cane out there. (and still dominating i might add.):D:D

We old farts better stick together tongue:)laughing:)
Co2 is the cheap way to go but if you have the cash I highly recomend (sp) air for like cbass said it is far mor consitent than co2 and isn't damaging. Also get Carbon-fiber wrap tank for those are lighter than the steel and they contribute more shots per fill.

I'm 34 and only started at 28.
One of my friends (my addiction to paintball is HIS fault!!!) is well in his 50's with no sign of stopping :-)
Best part is how he plays - sometimes in a small group he'll walk right down the main path firing at you, and even though we tried to light him up, we were totally unable to hit him, even though he just camly walked towards us! (Lucky sonofa...)
So no, age is certainly no limit - as long as you're fit enough to be out and about and carry your stuff, no problem.
There's plenty of ways to be useful even if you feel like you can't run - I hardly ever run myself (no stamina whatsoever!) - I'm more of a sneaker myself.

Here's another one:
Darrin posted this video a while back, and the video by itself is old.
http://minnesotascenariopaintball.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7
Once you downloaded it, go all the way to the last person talking - he was playing paintball at his age with the equipment they had in 1994 (which to me sounds a lot scarier that any regular legal equipment today)!

Well the guy who got the plaque for oldest player at OK DDay this year was 69...and the runner up was 67...so I think that answers your question.
I'm 19, and personally I'm planning on playing paintball for as long as I have the $ and I still enjoy it. Although the $ thing may be a problem with college coming up in a month and a half...

There was an old dude at Battle of Serenity Valley who had to use a kane. Dude was rocking a G3. He didn't play too long but it was cool to see someone who was probably in their 60's or 70's blaying PB.

He started playing in the late 80's with an automag classic (which he still has and i beleive worked up untill a year or two ago) but now has his new ego (chicka chicka yea :p)

Wow the age old question, when are you too old too play. Well my old field in NC when the land owner got "old" he built The Wallas" which if any body played okl d-day 07 on the german side, then they prob remember Common Wealths "The Wallas" or "The Beast" tanks. My thought is as long as your creative there's no limits to age. As for myself I'm 33 and been playing since 1994 and have no plans to completely quit.

Personally I say the only limit is when you decide to stop yourself from playing, but at 16 I've got a looooooooong way to go and just hope to have enough money to play after college to get me the itch to play for the rest of my life

What's all this talk about being "too old for paintball"? I didn't even start playing until I was over 50 and I've been playing for over 6 years now. I may not be the fastest guy on the field but I usually carry and sling more paint than most of the rest. Yes, I'm hooked on paintball and do not plan on quitting soon either.
Kudos to Oldest Sage for admitting his age and continuing to play!

I friggin' love going against these guys, for every 1 good hit i've gotten on them they've got at least 5 on me.
I remember one game on maze as it was starting to rain, I was the last guy on my team, camping in a crossroads in the brush. Darrin and Scotty to my rear left and Goodie coming around in front to my right. I put one right into Goodie's gut and it doesn't break, but he lets out this bellow and dives. Next thing I hear is Darrin laughing and he and Scotty both just light me up at like 20' in the back, man that hurt, but it was damn funny.
