View Full Version : SPPL rules on hoppers
If you use an electro marker, you are required to have a cap hopper at 15 bps. That is such a stupid rule.
If the marker is capped at 15 bps already, what difference is the hopper going to do. Doesn't matter how fast your hopper is loading. Your still only going to shoot 15 bps.
Other thing is that they ban q loaders, halo's and vlocity hoppers. I can set my v35 halo to 15 bps but they still ban halo B. WTF.
They need to come up with a reason why we cant use these type of hoppers. The hopper has nothing to with how many balls your shooting if you can cap a marker.

I do believe its a stupid rule. We're thinking of scapping that part on our tourneys and League. Each to his Own. Its like me telling my heavy Gunner(ISHVAN) that he can't play. He likes to play!!!!!

Ooops!? My Halo B v35 just came in the mail yesterday... and the X-7 is Q-loaded... permanently; ball catch and pins are chopped.

It's not a stupid rule.
It's there to protect everyone from cheaters, which we all know exist. If your hopper can only feed 15pr sec.than thats the max your gun can shoot,no matter how many cheat mods your gun has.
Most of the tourny guns can be capped at 15 pr sec,but also have cheat mods that allow to shoot over 15 per sec,so if your hopper will only feed 15 per sec,it renders the cheat mods useless.
Fair for everyone!
I understand with all these new boards can easily change modes, The need to cheat in dougbt will always happpen to people who feel that in order to win, they must shoot faster.
That's not even the case in woodsball. Guess I'll have to find a new hopper.

I'll also have to find a non force fed hopper.

You can use the Q-loader on an X7, even with an egrip.
The rules state electro-pneumatic IIRC, not electronic in general.
If they do say any electronic firing gun, then they banned their own e-grip X7 because the X7 cyclone can supposedly exceed 15 bps.
I understand the purpose of the rules, I just don't know if I agree with it.

jimy - not that I want to start off arguing on these forums, but if you google SPPL+Rules+2008, you will find the rules on Q-Loaders as well as the other hopper rules state, and I'm quoting here -
Prohibited Paintball Marker List
A. Any electro pneumatic marker that is used in conjunction with ANY force feed loader
or with loader with an advertised feed rate above 15 balls per second. Important note:
Purely mechanical markers may use any loader they choose.
Approved Electro Pneumatic Markers Hopper Combinations

Well that makes me feel better... I'm already moving closer to the dog house from buying too much gear this year (Mortgage or paintball gear... tough choices...dribble:)).

As was mentioned earlier, by limiting hoppers it is easy to tell just by looking at a marker set up what its max bps is, even for someone not familar with the marker and all the firing modes. So I can kinda understand that
But...
By limiting the hopper speed, and not the marker, the SPPL handicaps most all electro-pheumatics to under 15bps without handicaping the Special Ops / Tippmann markers like the X-7 and A-5 (that have the force feed built into the body instead of the hopper) even in there E-grip configuration which can exceed 15 and sometimes 20bps. Where is the justice?
The Qloader being allowed on all markers is yet another example of what I am getting at. Why ban all forcefeed hoppers except the one that Special Ops supports, especially when the Qloader feeds WAY faster than any other loader made currently?
I think the SPPL is a great idea for taking scenario ball to the next level, but for all their pushing for playing with honor and fairness, I just wish they would not be so obvious about there marketing slant and favoring *Special Ops* products with their rules.
