I like the Carbine, and I like restoring old stuff, what can I say?
Picked up this old rental lot today, going to try and breathe a new life into them. All aired and fired, no leaks, but I can't leave well enough alone.
One of these is going to be converted to a bolt action rifle for pump games, as for the rest, I guess we'll see.

Now, let's be fair.
It's not whoring if you aren't selling or trading them away.
If you're just buying them, it's called "collecting." ;)
Now, Drachen on the other hand.... :p

The only cure seems to be finally trading your way into guns you've always wanted. Why just today I saw an Evil Pimp at a pawn shop for a pretty good price and it only took two phone calls to my support group to talk me down. :)
C4 did you get some of those from Splatball? I wanted to pick up one of their cheap Pro Carbines to have a second good Tippmann in case of a 9V Apocalypse.

Thanks D, if you have any detents, sawtooth hopper latches, or safties let me know how much, I think I need like 6 of each.
I did pick these up from that Splattball craigslist post and they are about what you would expect to get for $20, parts guns like these go for around that on eBay. I bought 5 and he threw in a 6th.
They let me pick through them and even aired them up to see the condition. They had 2 or 3 Pro Lites and assorted carbines. He tagged the ones that had valve issues etc.
I've refurbed a few of these in the past, but not in this bad of condition so we'll see how it goes. I am thinking about stripping them and getting them re-anodized so if anyone knows a cheap place in St.Paul that can do military grade OD anodizing let me know.
I will probably sell off a couple of these to cover the cost of the refurb and maybe take on more to refurb as a winter project.

Hey now, I prefer to call it "test driving" guns until I know what's right for me lol.
Besides, I'm pretty positive Tanner might be around my level lol.

It depends on your play style I suppose, but a well kitted Carbine, while big and heavy, is one of the best 1 shot kill markers outside of a pump or first strike marker.
I'm debating outfitting a few of these with All American barrels, red dots, and Proto Primo loaders. Got my buna rubber o-ring kits today :D
I've successfully stripped the anodizing from one of these and it airs and fires fine. Done a little research and there is a local company that can do cadmium anodizing which offers a higher level of lubricity in OD green!
Again, we'll see how it goes, but I think It's possible to one-up Tippmann with their own stuff.

Anodize strip, polished internals, stainless bolts/screws, new rings, KABOOM!

wow, nice work, I may or may not want to buy one of these off of you, I need a good mech gun like these to play underwater, in the desert, and in Siberia with...
hahaha and I like the towel...
**EDIT**
Think a rotor would fit those feednecks? :p
C4 Explosives

Thanks Wick, a rotor should fit if it is your standard feedneck size. I'm gonna give that anodizer a call this week and see if they'd do me a small run. I can get powdercoat done at work, but I don't think it'd be as clean as an anno.

Is Avtec doing the cadmium anodizing?

Nah, these guys:

They're a couple blocks from my house.
Is Avtec any good?

The company I used to work for did all their anodizing with Avtec. They did nothing exciting, just clear Type II or III. It seemed well done. I kept pushing them to pretty things up a bit, I was just a lowly engineer. :o
Take lots of pics of the result you get from Cooperative!

Ah, we source all of our anodizing where I work, unforunately, and we powdercoat a lot of stuff I wish we would anodize.
Just talked to Cooperative, they can do the Type II in clear, black, red, blue, or gold (yellow). Sadly, the OD green is possible, but they'd have to do a base layer and he was worried about too much build up on the internals, plus the quote for that was over 4 times more.
So, what do you guys think, just go back to black?

Just have them Ano it, and not seal it. Dye it yourself then seal it in a hot bath (170 degrees) of distilled water. Give me a few weeks and I will have my Anodizing station set back up. Get the dye from caswellplating.com they are pretty cheap.

A nice black finish has always done well for Tippmann's, no matter what the make. I'd almost suggest sticking with black. Then again, there aren't enough bad *** Tippy's with a nice paint job.
I know...I was a lot of help :p lol

Your picture without anno looks pretty dang classy. I say a nice polished clear would be best. :)

Hey Carx i'll keep this in mind, thanks for the offer, it looks like they have OD so I might still do it.
These things are pretty knicked up and my bench-top buffing wheel doesn't seem to do much. I definitely don't want to spend the time to buff them with a dremel, but you can get aluminum to almost a chrome finish and then clear it.
I'm not sure why Cooperative has such limited colors, it might be that they don't want to mix for custom, or they do more industrial application, I dunno, but they gave me a price of under $75 for the receivers, end-caps, and ASA's. Most paintball anno's won't even touch anything for under $100 as far as I've seen, and that's for one marker!

So I think I'll be getting the parts off to the anodizer this week if I don't get lazy, and I've decided it's going to be 2 gold, 1 red, 1 blue, and 2 clear.
It will cost more, but I might do the barrels too, just for giggles.
