Xbox vs Ps3

with Greg Hastings new paintball game coming soon I figured it's time to get rid of the ol PS2 & upgrade!

I can't decide between a Playstation3 250gb or a XBOX 250gb

I'm not a big online player & the system will be used also as a daily DVD player.

WHICH IS A BETTER CHOICE?

IMO it depends on what kinda games you like to play FPS are excellent on the box along with racing games but RPG and games of the sort are better suited for the PS3. Just my 2 cents.

ps3 is superiour in every way except for the overall amount of games made for it. But who cares. Most all big name games are available on both. And also bluray is awesome.

If you are not a big gamer and online isn't what you need... PS3

Xbox is a gamers system thats pretty much it.
PS3 you can do anything on and as an added bonus you get one of the best blu ray players on the market.

bluray, dvd, mp4 and most all forms of video can be played on ps3

The only thing better than Live that PSN has, is it's free. Though the overall online experience is better on the 360 in my opinion. 360 is more catered to the gamer, while PS3 is catered to hardware. The graphics may be a little better for some games on PS3 as well. Though I'll still with overall performance rather than flashy toys like the Blu-ray.

Back to the discussion at hand....

I have heard that the newer PS3s are not backwards compatible with PS2 game. Anyone know about that?

As for my personal preference, I've never been a huge fan of the Playstation style controllers, therefore I've never been a fan of the platform (I do have a PS2). In terms of controllers, the 360's is laid out much better.

Of course this is all sort of mute for me as most of my gaming is done on my computer.

Yeah its basically what I'm saying... Im not going to get into a fanboy bash right now... The simple fact is I own two 360's and I recommended a PS3 so lets leave it at that...

You get what you pay for.... Oh... its not free anymore WELL technically it is.. if you want the same features as live... You have to pay 50 bucks a year... just like live... I agree with Drachen in that the player experience is better on live than the psn network. Mainly the players are WAY better.
On CODW2 I used to manage a 20-5 KD and on the PS3 I can almost go 40-5
I play COD on my buddies PS3 now instead of the 360 cuz people make me their puppet... I dislike that

I have a 360 and the gaming is okay but thats about all it does. And I have had some issues with it as well. PS3 is pretty dec, the graphics in my opinion are better and ya can't complain about free online play :D
the new 360does look quite tempting though...drool:)

I went thought the same dilemma when i decided to upgrade my PS2, I also had a old xbox. I did a lot of research and decided to go with the PS3 over the 360. I do play all the time on line and have no problems at all (free) the blue ray is cool, and Brando is right the net flicks is well worths the investment. I also have the Pandora radio Chanel on my PS3 pipped through the surround sound its cool. to answer the backward compatibility issue, I got one of the last older units, the new ones are not backward compatible.

secondly while I'm on the subject who else is on line with there PS3? my screen name is Ravenwood_ops look me up if you feel like ripping it up on COD M1 or 2 socom confrontations is cool also along with a slew of other cool on line games I have lol

any how let recap

I am going to echo the general agreement of PS3 over Xbox. I played Army of Two and Borderlands on both systems and the graphics were sharper on the PS3 (and personally, the sound was better too). Toss in Uncharted 2 and GoWIII exclusives and it's PS3 all the way.

Yeah man... Story mode is why I spend my 60 bones.... Multiplayer is added bonus.

You PS owners plan on getting the move?
I already pre-ordered the Kinect. Sony should have come out with the MOVE sooner. Its like have a Wii x100 but minus the lack of Zelda lol

I seem to be the opposite from you. Most of the time I won't buy a game unless it has online multiplayer (except for anything from Bethesda that is....). After you beat the story, it's just not fun to keep playing the same thing over and over. Though Halo, and Gears of War had/has such an awesome storyline, that I bought those just because of it. That, and I suck at the multiplayer on both lol.

I've been playing MW2 lately with some of teammates from D-Day and I think occasionally frighten people when we demolish them...Kind of fun to see the entire other side quit after a severe pounding. tongue:)

So uh...I may be getting a PS3 in the near future. Any suggested games to get for it? I already have CoD4 and MW2 for the 360, so I won't be re-buying it for the PS3. Though I'm not too familur with the exclusives on PS3 (that have multiplayer).

I have 2 xbox 360's and 2 ps3's. I like both but if I had to pick 1 it would be the ps3 hands down. It's much more reliable. I have had many red rings on the xbox systems. I have not ever had trouble with my ps3.
