I think it looks cool as hell, but I don't like the Ion so it doesn't matter anyway.

good point
Why hate on the ion. Its an awesome marker. The marker isn't bad, its the people who makes it bad.
Look at this beauty.

yea that looks like an ion withe blackcell longbow kit to me.
Is that the Longbow?
Blackcell Longbow kit for the ion from special ops. Pure hotness.
just think about virtue longbow ion with a qloader instead of that longbow mag. dribble:)dribble:)dribble:)dribble:)
AGD also has a long bow.

1st kit = uglyness
2nd kit = a little less ugliness.
But i digress, i love my ION, just couldn't bring myself to make it look milsim... They make a5's and 98cs for that... want a milsim ION get the sp8 IMHO.

yep still an ion, cute but still an ion. just because it is a longbow don't mean it will be any more accurate.

As someone who's spent a lot of time looking at mil-sim paintball markers, I personally think that modded A-5s are some of the ugliest setups ever. Why? Simply because the fake magazine is pushed too far forward to accomodate that airline. It just makes it look hideous, and yet everyone gushes over them. So, it's really just a matter of personal taste. I have an SP-8 and I love it. As for this Ion setup, I think it looks really good because it's simple and clean. Is it an exact copy of an M-4? No, but show me a marker that performs as well as an Ion and looks half as good. I mean, come on, how can everyone say they LOOOVE the look of the Longbow so much, when it's just a regular marker with a wire-frame stock and 20-round magazine on top (that most agree should be switched out)? I think it's bias against tourney-style markers that's speaking the loudest here.
But, with all of that aside, let me just present one idea for you guys to chew on:
Look at that Ion mod. Now imagine if someone went the extra step and made it a Thompson mod. With a fake magazine over the regulator (ala SP-8), can anyone honestly say that wouldn't be one of the finest Thompson replicas? Wooden stock, foregrip with handle... Now THAT is sexy.

Honestly, I'm just not a fan of mil sim in general.
I try to keep my gear functional, and maybe make it look "good" regardless of actual accuracy to a known firearm.
WhiteWail, I hear you about most of those ugly mags on 98s/A5s. The only mags that look nice on an A5 IMO are the Spec Ops air-through ones that make up part of the airline. The X7 mag isn't bad.
If I didn't have so many guns already, I'd consider one of those newer Ion XEs with the bolt-out back addition.

Honestly i think the ion should be left to waht it was designed for. the average speedball recball player. or a back up gun of anykind.

I was considering to "upgrade to an Ion" from my spyders but I dumped so much $$ into them I deside to keep them.

If you already have an Ion and want to go Mil-Sim it would be cheeper than buying a new gun but if you don't have a gun and want a Mil-Sim ine it's not the best choice.
I'll venture an opinion on this subject, in the first picture which Carlito posted shows the Ion which we all recognize as a stock Ion, but to me also looks like some one had some extra parts laying around from a mil-sim and stuck them on. Now the stock Ion looks great and functions well if used and manetained regularly. But if you wanted to improve it from stock and maybe shoulder it from time to time would be by adding a good barrel system and maybe just a "T" stock or wire stock, which shows temparary use to shoulder it.
Now in the picture that Jimy posted shows that the person did just that, and making it a little less recognizable at first of being an Ion. He has kept it sleek and functionable for whatever use or style of play he would choose that day.
I myself see a marker as just an extension or tool for which I need to tag you out, so if a stock marker no matter what Brand or Model can do this, then I would be happy to use it just as it is.sniper:)/AKA
