I'd first like to thank Wild Bunch for putting on this awesome event. Thanyou to the volunteers and staff. This event always seems to go without a hitch. I am hoping and praying for HFTC 2011. To everyone who helped me with first aid."Thankyou" I had a fun Juijistu match with a Ammo crate, and it won. The guy with the Airbow(dead squad guy) that walked me out. and thankyou Erndogg for helping me with first aid also. I'd like to give a shout out to all the great players I had on the bottom part of the field. Thanks Cowboy, you were the best Medic a guy could have. Dead squad, you guys were awesome. Etak,XLR8,there were so many, I saw some playing that was awesome. To my guys, Thankyou for putting up with my yelling and giving support were ever AKA asked. You guys deserved MVT (No matter what anyone says). To Iceman, thanks for being there to say"Joel back off and lead",I kept wanting to charge. He took a nap at lunch a didn't wake up till 3pm. Needless to say I had a little fun leading from the front in his absence,LOL. Gramps and AKA. It was awesome fighting under you. man there are so many people to thank, I could go on all day. I'm very sore after the final battle. I kinda went scyco. Again ,thanks WB,

Played 8 hours of paintball yesterday & today I feel like one big bruise, but it was worth it...HFTC was awesome!
* * our 16 player Merc team (Blue Team) beret:) completed 90% of our missions while fighting against 2 other teams of 150 players, most if the time we were sent in the middle of the field during the missions & had players shooting at us from all direction but we pushed thru like a unstopable wedge & left Team Anarchy & Team Coalition bodies eveywhere......Best time ever

Awesome game yesterday! Thanks to Wild Bunch for running it and Splat Tag for hosting it; I'm looking forward to next year...*hint hint* ;)
Our little four man team kept pushing up a valley in the center of the field all day and I think we ran into the blue team just as often as we ran into EA.
I really had a blast during the final battle. Two teamates and I went WAY wide and all the way around behind Envision Anarchy. I got two barrel tags and shot another guy before being shot by one of our own guys :scared0012: :(

well. I'm heading off the the ER to get my head checkout this morning.(please no sarcastic remarks) Still have a headache and feel a little light headed. I made the mistake of telling a Doctor client of mine about it and she said she wouldn't let me finish the job untill I went to the Doctor,GRRR. Its funny how your body egnors the pain untill your addrenalin wears off. I Had a Great Time!!!
It always seems like I get lit up by a Mayhem guy. I figured since they were on my side it wouldn't happen. Thanks Darrin for wearing the mayhem jersey and liting me up bigtime. It looked good on you but I still think the cute model sported it better. LOL

Hey Wild Bunch thanks a ton for all of your energy and dedication to not only a fantstic game but also for raising awareness for a worthy cause.
Although we only number 7 guys, we did a good amount of damage...although I visited Gramps what seemed like too many times on that hill!laughing:) Probably due to my aggressiveness!
Krutsie, A.K.A.and Gramps...it was fun serving under your command!
I have to tell you...even though I get plenty of exercise during the week...this 39 year old body is feeling it today...man my feet and legs hurt!:character0051:
It was finally nice to meet many of the guys on this forum...C4, Ravenwood, Andy Smith and countless others.
Thanks for a good time...we'll be back...MOG Taskforce.

Krutsie,
Do let us know what you find out. I'd guess there may be a minor concussion, though if I'm right you will probably be fine in a few days and taking it easy for a week or two (easy as in "not getting hit in the head", not as in "can't do anything at all" easy).
I hope that's all it is, but let us know either way.

That's why I bought a helmet (I was the one wearing the OD green with EA).

I got tired of getting nailed in the head and having a headache for a week every time I went out. Sure it increases your profile a bit and you need a smaller mask, but with the amount times I got hit in the head this year, I'm thinking this is one of the best investment I'm made for paintball.
Here's the link to the site where I got my helmet from (I use the A-Alpha Half Shell).
http://www.protechelmet.com/products.asp?cat=14
I also use a Dye I4 mask and the two close up very nicely, so there is no forehead gap.

Hope all is OK Krutsie, let me know.
I had a Blast this year, and REALLY hope to see that its picked up for next year and many more to come. Well done and thanks to all that help make this possible.

Awesome event Wild Bunch, as always, thanks for everything! I committed to play the full 8 hours without leaving the field except for the break and for air, and man i'm paying for it today. Luckily my boss let me take a vacation day today on short notice without putting in for it in advance :D.
Had a great time playing for the Coalition, congrats AKA and Gramps and good game EA. Krutsie, thanks for letting me join Woodland, I had a good time playing with the guys, we had some great runs, I also got to do a good bit of creepin' around so if I wasn't responsive on the raidio it's because started turning it down/off after someone heard it and lit me up, I should get a headset/mic I think. Give us an update on the injury man, hope all will be well.

Wild Bunch did a great job as usual, and thanks to Darrin for the use of his field (even if I was cursing the hills at the end of the day).
Mustangman and EA put up a great fight and had a commanding lead all day. Great work! That laser-engraved barrel prize was a great idea, too!
Thanks to everyone in the Coalition for working your tails off and playing hard right through the end!

I had.....an awesome time!
Thank you Splat Tag for hosting.
Thank you Wild Bunch for setting up a remarkable game!
Thank you Mustang for the opportunity to be your XO.
Thank you Akkadians for making me a proud Team Commander, and Congrats on the MVP Team banner!
Thank you to the First Strike team that ran with us. Couldn't have done half of the things we did without you boys!
Thank you to the coalition for putting up a hell of a fight all day.
Thank you to the refs who did their damn-ist to keep things straight.
I enjoyed the whole day. Sure, there are things I didn't agree with, or I would change, but it's not my place to do that. I was there to have fun, and help raise money for a great cause.
Mission Accomplished.
Congrats to the coalition. It was a tuff game all day. I commend you.
Thanks again everyone for allowing me to have another kick-*** day!
PS: I checked out the pics at Matt Holland website.......epic.

I enjoyed the whole day. Sure, there are things I didn't agree with, or I would change, but it's not my place to do that.
Actually, this is the place to share changes and feedback on the game. The Hunt for the Cure has improved every year because of players feedback.* We always want to hear what went wrong and what went right.
I will start...we wanted to keep the third faction a surprise (which I think it was). However, keeping it a surprise created issues and confusion -- e.g. who were they and how could they reinsert anywhere along the western border. In the future it is likely any third faction will be announced so the other players can understand what they can and cannot do.
*This does not mean their will be a future HFTC. However it is likely in the future the WB will produce scenario game(s) in some format/capacity.

Needless to say I had a mild concussion and I had the opportunity to give everyone in the doctors office a good laugh after telling the story. My knee is swelled but didn't bruse. being I had an old Martial arts ingury I was afraid I had water in the knee cap again. just swelling thank GOD. In all, I'm just banged up and will be ready to go in two weeks at C4C then hopefully an unrainy GBG.
I forgot to mention earlier, Thankyou to all the pelicans that steped up and helped us out when we were hit hard down at the mess hall and tower field. You guys were out there all day. You were the MVG(Most Valuable Group)in my oppinion. I honestly feel if AKA wasn't the General you would have been a runner for it. My guys fought hard all day and I am very proud they got MVP. It is a great honor. I was an honor also to receive most Valuable Player. I would like to say that Cowboy was my most valuable player in the western part of the field. He was amazing under fire and managed to get many cards full without getting killed. Nothing like not having to make the walk. LOL

Well of course I have to start this off with giving props to the people who deserve it.
Wild Bunch you guys did a fantastic job on this game. I had so much fun I almost dare say it was probably the best paintball game I have ever played. Which is just amazing to say cuz I was only able to play half the day.
Darrin/Splat Tag for allowing WB to have the game at your field.
I congratulate Team Akkadian and Woodland Security for their MVT accomplishment.
Joel on your MVP you were literally sacrificing your body yesterday. You deserve that with out a doubt.
Tim/AKA, Gramps, for leading the coalition to Victory
I was able to grasp two sides of perspective of this game being able to take photos half the day and play the other half. I never got over shot by Evasion
JUST MY OWN GUYS when I was playing. When I was taking pics I experienced good sportsmanship on both sides (I was exteremly surprised to hear it wasn't that good throughout the day from WB). A lot of players looked to me to see if they were hit or not. I was really happy with the players that turned out. YOU GUYS ROCK!!!
My favorite part of the day was Darrin shooting my butt "literally" right in the beginning of the day. I went to go tell him nice shot and I got about 20ft from him and he shot me AGAIN right on my moob (man boob). D is a complete animal out on the field, no prisoners, no mercy..... hooo!!!
But to top that off I was able to pay him back half way through the day ;)
I was able to tell Burt how much I enjoyed the game yesterday IDK if he really believed me or not when I told him so I will say it on here to make my point clear.
Burt I honestly can't put into words how much this game means to me. I honestly feel bad that I have only been to two of these. Maybe thats why this game is a must play event. It makes ALL of us feel that we are apart of something bigger, being able to help people by doing something that we are all so passionate about. You and your team deserve a lot more praise than what you'll get from this forum or any of us. All of us who attend this game or wish we were able too, want this game to keep going UNTIL WE FIND A CURE!!!
Ken, Mark, Carsen, Burt, I have gotten to know you guys a lot better over the years. You guys really made my Hunt a lot more enjoyable, making sure I was having fun and asking me about my opinion on how the game was going.
You guys are awesome!!!
PS: Darrin you took that shot to the pills like a man ;)

Ahhh,,,,, what to say? Nchittendon has beaten me to the punch by submitting his thank-you’s and other insights on the game.
Now I guess I better take a moment and do the same:
AKA: I don’t think I could find a more generous and forgiving General to work with and for.
All the Players: Coalition players, here’s to you for not letting the EA get up to our base the whole game. That took a lot of pressure off me and AKA. EA players, great game, and I’m sure if we get together again you will all make me sorry for giving too many thank you’s to Coalition players.
Mercanaries: What to say? You guys are all ruthless individuals; I just wish I had what it takes to run with you kids.
WB: Outstanding game layout and format. I still DO find this to be the most entertaining game at ST, and it will be dearly missed if not continued.
ST: I would like to thank the field for sponsoring this event on behalf of HDSA. A Big Game like this will always draw a big crowd, and it is awesome that you would allow HDSA to benefit from the proceeds.
AKA: Man I gotta tell you now, “My sincere thank you” for honoring me with the position of XO. Being out there for the day means a lot to me.
To the photographers: Thanks for immortalizing the day.
To the rest of the Paintball World, thanks for being, for the most part, a great bunch of people to hang around with.

Congrats Coalition on the win, and Woodland Security on the MVT. Joel you deserved MVP after hearing about the ammo box thing AND seeing you rush the octagon base with the LAW. hehe
Also, to Mustangman, Nchittendon, and Envision Anarchy, we gave em' a run for their money! Congrats Team Akkadian for MVT, Hydrohawk for being my medic, and team Short Circuit (I think that's what it was) Who I had never heard of before but saw a lot of all day. Thanks again to Wild Bunch, Darrin, and Splat tag for bringing us such an awesome game!

Alright, first let me thank everyone who made this game possible. I think you know who you are. I think I speak for all of our guys when I say it was undoubtedly one of the best days of paintball I have ever played and one of the most painful. This game will be sorely missed if this was truly the last one. Congratulations Woodland Security and Team Akkadian on taking home MVT. I'm glad we could do our part to help secure another victory for the Coalition. I'll be seeing most of you guys soon.

I had a great time, the hills kicked my arse though. I only had one issue with over shooting and that came from a confusing situation during a merc insert while I was pausing Cutsep on my way out.... Other than that, like voiced previously here, I saw some great play and sportsmanship. I was disappointed to hear that it wasn't the same across the entire field.
Targeting was an issue. Our lines got so mingled that it took precious time to identify friend from foe. I know I was on both sides of it at the Pilot school at different times. Sorry to the team mate I shot while he was dug in well. :scared0012:
With the hills in mind, the only suggestion I had for the game is a win-able or available to purchase front reinsertion. Something unlimited as long as you hold it. Perhaps a base or two back from the front line. The walks up hill both ways to reinsert were killer.

I as well think that would be a good idea, the walk really sucks and I feel like that stops player from being as aggressive as they could be and sometimes should be, cuz they don't want to make the walk...
Also as far as the "mystery third element" goes it definitely makes the game really interesting and pretty chaotic although a little warning about it would be nice, just a "there's another team, shoot them if you see them" and maybe there was and I just missed it, but if there wasn't it's a suggestion

what got me is, I studied the rule a week before and blue taped players were engineers. then in the final adjustments of the rules they changed it to blk. I actually thought they were engineers but knew AKA wouldn't buy 15-20 engineers, LOL. and I figured EA wouldn't eather. I just think that they should have told the Generals before the game started so they could make it clear.
Well, finally got some time, gear put away, but not to far.:D
I hope I can do this without missing anything or anyone. Yet we always seem to miss something. Here goes. I'll try to be brief....;)
HFTC'10- Team Wild Bunch, another fantastic Game Plan(Chunk & Alchemist) The Missions & Mission Sheets were very easy to follow and explain this year. There seemed to be alot more though.
Thanks for putting on this Event, it means alot to all that attend and to those who cannot make them at times. Hopefully Your Traddition can continue, 6 does'nt seem like the number to end with, more like 10 I think.
Splat-Tag- All of this would not be possible if Darrin did'nt have a hand in it. so here's one from us to You!applaus:)
Envision Anarchy- Mustangman and your Teams and Players, Thankyou for a Great Hard Battle on the feild, a Game to remember for all of us.
Coalition Forrces- Thanks to all of you for signing on and putting 110% of all you have for the Chance to Win a HFTC Game. Congratulations! on your Win, HFTC'10. I would like to see you list yourselves, Teams and players on the *US*Coalition Forces Recruiting Thread that did represent the Coalition Forces this Year, for I would not be able to name you all myself. It's your Win, Take credit for it!:)
My XO- Gramps, it's been a pleasure to have you stand up top a Hill for 8 Hrs. and lend support to Me and all of those returning Players who come back just to say Hi and then leave again.:D Thank-You for accepting my Invitation for the Job and Helping Me achieve this Win.
Dark "SPY" Storm- Thank-You for what you had to go through for the past 3 months to keep your Identity unknown to anyone. Your acomplishing all of your missions for Coalition Points, were a comemorable achievement, and ones that make me most proud to of had you as My "Spy". You were able to play as a Anarchist the entire Day without ever being found out. You were even able to report to me in person the Identity of their "Spy" before Break Time, simply by Him asking you to take him safely to the EA Base after reveiling to You that he was EA's "Spy". An Epic Story you must tell everyone. I would take you as a Special Role Personnel in any Game I would Command.
MVP- Krutsie, Thank-You for the Many Many Game Plan Ideas I had used in this Game. All of the Recruiting to The Coalition and to The HFTC Game in it's self. Your Energy on The Feild is only your own, and I believe cannot be Matched by many. You are a very Valuable Player in any Game I have Played in with you or against you. I admire the Heart and Soul you put into PaintBall and Your Game.
MVT- Woodland Security and all of it's Members were a very big part of my Planning this Year. My XO-Woodland Security, My "Spy"-Woodland Security, My Medic-Woodland Security, My Blue Team Leader-Woodland Security. These Players and Team were my Intentions all along because they can do the Job's that I needed to fill, and never seem to Tire.
The PBPBC- Thank-You to all the Members of The Pelican Brigade that Made this Game, to back me again in this year's HFTC Game, I have never mentioned how much help you are to The Coalitions Victories these past two Years, Well this Year I'm Mentioning it. 23 Members attended this Game.
Great Game All, Radios worked all day, that made for a fun Game!/AKA

First off, Krutsie, Your welcome man, I am glad you are all right...Did they give you any stitches in that gash on your head?
Now, What an great day of play. I saw good sportsmanship for the most part all day. Heard a few stories, but saw nothing personally.
Wild Bunch, you did an amazing job once again. I loved the game, and the NPCS were great.
Darrin, thanks for letting Wild Bunch use the field.
I will be sad, if the Hunt is no longer here. It's for a great cause, it's a great game, always fun, and on a personal note, gives my friends and I a reason to get together and have a camping weekend, and cap it all off with paintball lol.
On the drive home I got to talking with GateKeeper, and if needing more volunteers/refs is one of your areas of concern, He and I would be more then happy to help you guys out with a game next year.

If I would have gone in sunday night they would have given me stitches. I was so tired I was willing to wate till the morning to go into the doctor.
The funny thing is, 45 minutes after the injury I took my hat off and blood started dripping behind my ear. before that I new I got hit in the head but I had a game to play and didn't really care. I wonder if anyone got it on video. man I hope not. there was no grace in that fall.
In the final Battle I saw Syclops do a dask for a canister and turn and on his run back do a belly flop . man I know he's gotta be hurting.
Ravenwood and the Mn Malitia did an awesome job keeping the east field clear. It was a hard job but you guys agreed and performed. you guys are Awesome.
Shaman you did an awesome job in the Middle, that was a task worth mentioning in itself.

You were a great suicide bomber! I still remember when we hit the Coalition's Motorpool and you dove in, shreiking and yelled BOOM! The ref kind of looked at you and said, "Umm....you do realize you just blew yourself up, right?" Your response was something like "Yeah, I intended to do that."
Priceless.

my little tank tale. myself and a small team were just finishing up with some EA guys that were hunkered in the Lab, once we had finished of with those guys and secured the base, I heard the tank start to roll down the path to the Lab. I had everyone pull back into the brush for cover, I pulled my Havoc and loaded a rocket and took a long shot at the tank......... too high, just missed the turret, the gunner now knows where I am and spins the turret in my direction and opened up.... i ran and dove under a fallen tree with the sound of paint breaking branches behind me. everything went quiet, and I herd the tank engine rev as it started to creep up the trail, I took this opportunity to flank around the back of the tank, reloaded another rocket, this time I got a lot closer. I came up on the Lab base, they didn't even know I was there. the Tank engine roared again as it started up the trail with its guns unloading on my guys, I swung out from behind the Lab base wall, brought the luncher up, sighted the back of the tank and squeezed the trigger.
Direct hit right in the middle of the rear mesh window, they didn't even see it coming. The tank was out and my men were safe to fight another day.
This was just one of the many great battles I was proud to be a part of that day.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dead Squad and E-TAC for their support on the east side of the field for most of the morning, we retrieved our package early and got it back to HQ then held the lab for most of the morning. It got very quiet up on that side of the field from there on in so I really appreciate all the help I had up there in the morning hours, there were times it was me alone at the farm base holding back small groups of EA, lucky for me they didn't know it was just me, I would move and shoot then move to the other side of the base and shoot then move again giving the effect of more guys, it worked long enough for me to get some reinforcement up there before getting shot out. Great game, great leadership, great sportsmanship shown by every play I came into contact with all day.

I would also like to say thanks to the players, without you guys all the planning in the world wouldnt make it a great game. I saw a lot of stand up play out there, even in instances of very close engagments.
I was the ref who ran the merc missions the whole day and I would like to make special mention of one player, Darrin's paint monkey. This was his first paintball event other then some light rec ball with private groups and I think one other game, he had no gun and carried around ten pods of paint, two tanks and the merc props when they were running missions. His job was to resupply darrin when he needed to reload and to make sure he didnt get hit in the process as Darrin would be paintless without him (he didnt carry a pack). As most of you know Darrin doesnt tend to play from the back in a firefight so this kid was running up and back through heavy fire on two sides. Out of the missions that the mercs succesfully accomplished this kid single handedly accomplished three of them, twice as his entire force was eliminated and he was the last standing. Not too bad for not having ever played at an event before and all the more impressive that he did it with no gun.

HAHA, yup, Skibbo was definitely a valuable tool. He was more excited to do things WITHOUT his marker, then he was to go out on strike missions. lol
Not only that, but any chance he has to run into a building under fire screaming, "Allah allah!" followed by a faint....."boom!" absolutely is priceless. haha
From what I understand from my team and our affiliates, great time had by all.
And to the player we captured and interrogated......the one that kept repeating, "they are coming." and seemed disheveled and spacey.......you kinda creeped me out dude. That was one hell of a performance. lol nicely done to all of the "characters."

One of my favorite things Sunday was something that didn't end up working out, but it was fun to try.
AKA bought a SEAL team and evolkers and myself decided to follow a short distance behind them and basically try to trick EA into thinking we were part of the SEAL team and therefore they couldn't shoot at us.
Props to whoever the EA player was that noticed not only were we not walking between the two refs, but we also didn't have our guns up in the air. He was like the last person on their front line that we had to get past and he caught us, so we just surrendered and had a long walk back, but it was fun to attempt. :)

Hello All,
My son Tyler (Royalfork) and I had a great time as always...the Hunt for the Cure games have consistently been at the top of our must play list. The competition is always fierce and the sportsmanship is as good as it gets.
Congrats AKA on the Coalition win....
I think I may have some video of Krutsie's crash landing with the ammo box....Take a look and let me know.

For all of you that do not know i was the coalition spy. Most of the hard stuff was before the game even started. I had to stay very quiet on the forum while gathering info from anyone whod talk.
It was a very up and down day for me for the most part. It started by me walking into the set up area after wicker77 dropped me off a few hundred yards out. Then i had to get my info from the confused register ladies while not being to obvious which was a hassle. Then i got my packet for the spy info again being very discrete. Then i had to grab mics and com stuff from aka and set that up all while trying not to be obvious while sitting alone.
Then the game started, i was a little late on the field and almost got shot because everyone was so touchy. After the 15min stay at base mission i was supposed to meet my handle by the barracks. I stayed behind fixing my mask while everyone ran out. On my way to meet my handler i see him being taken back to base and i just thought o ****. Luckly he negoiated his own release allowing me to grab my mission while eveyone was back at our base getting a mission. My only mission was to blow up the EA motorpool which was completed in like 20min, i hide my mission sheet so i had to run and grab it. I blew it up and killed 2-3 people with it. That was my only mission sadly. Then it was all basic spy work, but my com headset wasnt strong enough to reach coal hq and i couldnt find the channel on the walkie talkie. So i tried getting caught by coal guys so i could get the right channel. While waiting a coal guy suprises me and tells me not to shoot and walks right up to me and tells me he is the EA spy, i was like..... Ok lol. He wanted to talk to the EA general so I walked him back and he bragged about his exploits. Of course as soon as i left him i ran back to the front lines and got successfully caught by some coal guys that took me to hq.
I informed aka of my mission success and informed him of the EA spy who had already done a lot of dmg. So then soon after that i ran around a bit, shot krutsie once lol and then lunch came. After lunch i was able to steal a rabdom red flag and a mission sheet for some ambush mission, i also lost my walkie talkie so that didnt help much. That was pretty much the entire day of my exploits. Comment away.

Good job.
The only advice I can give you, is if you're going to talk to your pals at lunch, be mindful of who's watching. lol At that point we were suspect of you, but that kind of just sealed the deal.
As far as your radio goes, I think someone turned one in to Mustangman that they found on the field. I think it was a black and gray one.
You did good. We wanted to call you out so many times, but I just didn't feel as though I had enough to nail you, so I didn't feel I could justify the charges. That, and there was confusion as to whether or not you HAD to say yes if asked.
Either way, I read the part about my spy and just about spit my Sunny D all over my kid. lol Now THAT is funny. Sadly, that is just like my guy to do something like that thinking he's sneaky. haha
There better be another Hunt For the Cure, this was my first, and this was a blast!

I nearly shot you when you were like checking my tag and stuff lol. I thought your spy might have suspected me so i tried to stay away from many people during the second half so i wouldn't get myself shot. Those people at lunch were just random people i met there lol. I thought it'd be fine because there was a EA guy right there also so i was like o well. How did you start to suspect me? I was mostly trying to be the ever helpful nub recon:) lol and i thought i did a good job. Your spy just got a bad luck run. Out of 150 people he picked me lol, if i didn't catch him you easily could have won because of how much damage he was doing compared to me. It was all good fun though laughing:).

How did you start to suspect me?
One of my teammates came to me early and said, "you told me there are spies, right?"
"Yeah."
"As I walked onto the field I watched for the one person who wasn't really talking to anyone. Then once we got here, this guy started asking me who the General was and asked a bunch of questions. I'm not saying I'm right, but keep an eye on him, I've got a feeling it's him."
That was the first bit. Right off the bat. A couple of the guys are practiced at counter intelligence, so I took what he said to heart. From that point on, I tried to keep a bird-dog on you every time you left. The only time you weren't followed was when you were on the other end of the field.
Like I said though, you did a great job.......and I'm glad you didn't shoot me when I got nosy. HAHA

Wow what an amazing game! I am still sore!
I had a blast running missions all day, defending the center, and blowing up buildings with the law! :) highlight of the day was using the black hawk and riding around tower field, getting shot and distracting the EA, shouting out positions, while the coalition got close enough to take the base.
There was a pretty fun battle on the tower field 20-30 mins before the final battle. We made a great push and really hammered EA. I had alot of fun running to the snake and getting several players out at close range. I didnt think there would be three back there! :o
Congrats to the EA spy, my own guys thought i was the one causing trouble!
Great job wild bunch, I enjoyed every minute of the game! When we needed a paintcheck or a spotter for rockets, most referees ran to our assistance. :) I thought the missions were fun and interesting, the numerous NPC's made life very interesting! The pilot school made for a great place to get blackhawks, that made a very interesting dynamic. I had a great day and I hope we get another Hunt For the Cure next year!!!
Was it just me or was there no apache's on the field all day?
Thanks to all the players that helped me out in the center, especially XLR8, who really helped me hold the ground and be where i needed them to be! I seen alot of great moves by both sides. The mercenary force made a very interesting dynamic and they tore us up all day long! It was a X factor that really made some missions difficult, but that was a good thing beret:)

To all the props that disapeared from play from your spy. I am glad Darkstorm stayed an intell officer.
Rules state:
Props: Props are items in the game that can be used to perform actions that will help you achieve victory, or they may actually be worth points toward your score. They will be marked with a team specific color. You may NOT touch the opposing teams props, however you can guard them. Props with no tape and props with both color tape may be taken by either team. Props must remain in play once they are taken on the field. Props cannot be hidden in the back corner of the field. These rules are meant to keep the props in play, adding to the excitement of the game. Anything considered for score must be turned in before end of play. Props may be ANYTHING so keep your eyes open.
My spy asked a ref if we could use the free helicopter that he had taken, and the ref told him no. So he asked what he COULD do with it, and the ref told him that he could do whatever but he probably wouldn't want to let the coalition have it. So, he buried it. The ref watched him do it.
That's one thing with a game like this with so much going on at once, even with radios it's hard for the ref's to get mixed directives, or the ones that don't know, and just make it us as they go. I'm not knocking the refs of this game, because they had their hands full and did a great job, IMHO. But there are things that just can't be avoided no matter what game it is.

The paint/prop monkey for the Mercs was Waffles, he's normally a rookie ref @ Splat Tag & just getting into the game, Oh what a way to learn the art of destruction, running with a 16 player team comprised of MN Terminators,Damage Inc & Few others!
We were Always under fire from all sides & he was able to jump around & keep in the right spots so not to get hit, the beginning of the day Darrin told us all, that Waffles was to be the last guy standing, that every Merc had to die fighting not to let him die & we got it done!

Dark Storm saved my bacon out there, me and another guy bolted through the tower field and crept into Field to get to the barracks and then to the main trail down to EA HQ when this dude in a ghuille pops out and was like hey don't shoot i'm your spy, don't go that way go around, or something to that affect, so we hoofed it down to the tape and crept up and he disappeared. We would have walked right into EA guys on the trail no doubt. Thanks for that man, you must've had a blast.
I don't normally buy photos of me playing paint ball but this is for charity and Matt takes great shots.
I don't seem to be in many pics on the field and the couple Matt got of me I thought looked pretty cool, you should all go take a look there are a lot of great shot of some of you.
I second this, Matt's got some great shots on there, I had to pick up 4 for myself :)

I just stayed fairly quiet, i was confuse why we were all sitting at base though lol gj to that person though. I so wanted to shoot you and the general also because i thought you were worth point but i had to finish my job at like 4:30 and that took a while so when i got back you were moving bases so i kinda took a ref aside and asked if the general was worth pints and he said you guys were just worth $$ and i didn't was to shoot a bunch of people carrying random objects just to get money that would do nothing, although it would have been funny as heck.

yea I remember that. me and colby were walking down the trail.he had no air, marker was on his shoulder facing up, Barrel sock on and he got lit up 10 ft away, I dropped down about ten feet infront of the guy who just plastered my Captain. luckily there was a guy behind me 20 ft that got the guys attention. I got the one guy in the hopper and when the second guy steped out to shoot the guy behind me, I had no problem dumping 4 rounds into his chest at 10 ft away. He ended up getting me on rebound but I accepted the elimination and ran up to base and told everyone there was two loose behind the fort, yea he maybe hit the base once but that was it for the whole day.

Not to change the subject or anything...:)
One of the most memorable moments I had during the game was a sweet end-around maneuver I pulled off with just myself and one of the Working Class Heroes (I think his name was Eric). Anyway, it's just before the break and the Coalition is knocking on our door step. They have the high ground and the line of contact is so close that we're virtually doing hot insertions. I just arrive from another part of the field, see what is going on, and think..."Flanking Time!" I ask for volunteers, get a few and take off towards the Tower field. I get a little beyond the first trail and I cut into the woods. About a dozen yards in, I look back and realize my squad of about 6 is now 2....Oh well.
We kept going until we got far enough that the heaviest firing was well behind us and then we started moving up the ridge. About half way up, we see a Coalition player who apparently doesn't realize we're there as he turns around and head up as well. I had a clean shot at him, but I though better to see what happens than blow our cover. He never got wise so I let him go...
We finally made the ridge top and had a glorious (or crazy) sight in front of us. We were behind about 40 Coalition players who were so focused on our base that no one was looking behind them. My partner and I spread out and started moving forward. We got to within about 70 feet before someone saw us and started staring. I figured it was now or never. I took cover behind a tree and we opened up. All told, I think we took out at least a dozen between the two of us, if not more before we got lit up. We got a couple of "Nice Jobs" while walking though their lines back to our base.
Probably one of my best moment of the day!

We may have been pinned on the ridges, but the valley was wide open most of the day. I ran at least two or three missions up the valley with little opposition throughout the day. The only time I would get bogged down was when someone in my squad started a firefight instead of bypassing the other players.:(

That's where our 4 man squad was all day too (for the Coalition though) so we probably bumped into you guys a few times. We'd just sneak our way up the valley and only engage if we were forced too; then we'd get behind your front lines, climb up onto the ridge, and lay waste. I think we took back the farm? a couple of times that way.
We got destroyed a couple times down in the valley though. Once we pushed way up to the Hospital I think it was, and we hunkered down there for a couple mins before deciding to make a run at your base with just the 4 of us. But as we were moving out we got ambushed by one guy who had apparently just been laying there in the woods along the trail. He got 2 of the 4 of us and then he and I traded out.
Another time between the Lab and Hospital we were getting ready to flank EA up on the ridge when a bunch of EA guys came through the woods towards us. We had almost no cover and were outnumbered, and we ended up just sitting there for probably almost 5mins with them not firing because they couldn't see our armbands. Then some other Coalition player came waltzing up the trail behind us and they saw his armband, so we got totally destroyed there. :scared0012:
I shot way less than I thought I would. Only went through half a case with my PM8 and half of that was in the first quarter of the game. The final battle I only shot one ball and got 3 eliminations :D Would have been at least 4, but I got shot by a Coalition guy who obviously wasn't expecting me to be running around barrel tagging people on the tower field laughing:) I really wish my goggle cam battery wasn't dead for that part :( But it figures that's when it would decide to die.

Badger and I had a real nice move. We were at the Pilot school and started to push down the hill thru the scrub oak or whatever it was. We started on a little game path that led into a larger path and hunkered down when there was some EA guys talking and walking about 20 feet down hill from us. We watched them come and go, never having a clear shot. A couple eventually came up the hill just to our left, but again obscured by scrub brush. They went up the hill and started to engage the pilot school. Badger and I leap frogged down and behind the EA guys. One was eliminated by our guys in the school and the other was hunkered down exchanging fire. Once in position behind the EA guy, Badger popped off a few rounds. The guy looked back and yelled "Are you red?" To which Badger replied," Are you?" EA dude says "Yeah.." Badger then asks, "How many yellow up there?" " A couple in the base...." Badger steps out and paints the guy with a couple shots. When he turns to give Badger the WTF look, Badger replies with, " Sorry man, I'm yellow." We head up the hill, calling our selves yellow to avoid friendly fire... Red had a guy on the right side dug in.... didn't see him.... Yellow in the bunker started to warn us just as Badger took a hit. I stepped behind a big tree to return fire, then got gogged by another Yellow player coming around the Pilot school.

Interesting event….Us coalition were trying to hold the Lab and were taking EA fire from the high ground to the north and east when out of nowhere another squad started moving in on us from the west so realizing our position was untenable we decided to retreat south along the trail towards the Coalition base. What was left of our group went about 100 yards south and then went west up the hill through the woods and came out on the backside of the Top of the Hill field, we then proceeded back north to try and outflank the squad that hit us from the west. We moved into position on the ridge to the west of lab on the backside of the Valley field and just when we were preparing our attack we were surprised by a group of Mercenaries that came up from the bottom of Valley and put an end to our flanking maneuver. I was the first of many that were shot out and I know some of the Mercenaries were eliminated but it pretty much ended our counter attack….Geez, our outflanking maneuver was outflanked!
Nice job Merc’s!

I think I may have some video of Krutsie's crash landing with the ammo box....Take a look and let me know.

As I read through page 8, I slowly start to wonder how many times little strike teams from both sides wandered right past each other.........lol
And Krutsie, you're right. We lost the game. Which confuses me why you feel you need to throw rules at us, and almost blatantly accuse us of cheating? You won. So what are you so insecure about? (a little Woodland Insecurity joke in there) lol
Everyone has their story. Everyone saw the same situations from different angles.
So and so was shooting hot.
So and so was still shooting after getting hit multiple times.
So and so picked a fight with a defenseless box.
So and so didn't follow this rule, or that rule.
Didn't everyone have fun? So why the hell all the bickering? Both sides played hard. Both sides had buttheads. Both sides i'm sure broke their fair share of the ever so blurry rules.
Is this the impression we want new people to have of playing at Splat Tag?

Thank you to everyone involved with the game from my son's and I. We had a good time as well, with only a few exceptions. Hopefully the bruises on my neck will go away and my wife will quit harassing me about them.
First of all thank you to Wild Bunch for planning and running this event, you all did a great job. Unfortunately you took some criticism for some of the things that did not go right but you cannot control everything especially in a game with 300+ players.
Thank you Splat Tag for hosting this event, again (keep the calendar open in 2011, just in case)
Congratulations to the Coalition on the win although it was close.
Krutsie, it was good to meet you in the registration line, sorry to hear about the injury and I trust that you recover quickly.
Thank you to everyone in the EA, it was good running with all of you. Thank you Mustangman for being general, it also can be a thankless job, I know you would have rather been out there slinging paint instead but you stepped up to lead, thanks! Special thanks to Nchittendon for being XO, it was good to finally meet you.
My favorite moment was when I was running alone and I came up on what I think was the Lab. I came up the hill and found a lone Coalition player, I got him to surrender when he saw my Double Trouble pointed at him. Then I popped up to see a whole gaggle of Coalition players standing around the base, they went flying all directions when they saw me standing there leveling off my DT. I let fly with the paint not knowing how many I hit and I was in turn taken out by a couple of their players.
I only have a few gripes, I did not necessarily appreciate the third team either although I should have known better, this was my third HFTC. What was this about one of the Blue teams being a "Head Shot Only" team? Yes, it is a viable way to take out a player but also risky, I hope that never happens again! I wish I'd had my chrono to clock some of the incoming rounds during the last game. I saw bark being peeled off trees and took way too many hits that were much harder than anything I'd taken all day.
Anyway, we had a good time and thanks again to everyone!

Sorry to hijack some of your words Chitt, but...
Everyone has their story. Everyone saw the same situations from different angles.
This is the main reason I've been keeping my mouth shut. I can go ahead and post things I saw, but does that paint a full picture? No - it paints the picture of one perspective, one angle from across the field. There are stories in this thread, both EA and Coalition, that I had no clue ever happened. It is downright impossible for me to, with my words alone, generate a real overview of how the game played out.
Did I have fun some of the time? Yeah, even when things weren't going well for my particular mission/perspective. Did I have concerns from some things I saw? Yep. Is it really going to help if I talk about it? Not really, what's done is done, and there is no use trying to start the "so and so is an evil cheating group" nonsense.
I mean, do we really want to sound like Special Ops following an Oklahoma D-Day event? Or do we just want to move on, knowing that idiots exist and nothing the honorable players and nothing the refs do can ever fully remove them from the game we play?
Is this the impression we want new people to have of playing at Splat Tag?
Exactly. What do people see when they read our posts? They see our limited view of an event, not the full picture. Do we really want to leave a bad taste in their mouths before they even come and try Splat Tag? I don't think that's a wise plan at all.

as far as stating rules. I went back and edited my post(Page5, post#50)and told you in a later post I took that part off.(page 6,post#56) there was some confussion there but it wasn't anything major. I wasn't accusing anyone of cheating. I was just letting the twinns get to me. I'll just egnor them. My appologies. LOL

One more note....Not a complaint, just on observation.
After reading every post in this thread I realized that there were many different perceptions regarding the Mercanarie's and their role in this game. I did speak with one of them before the game started and thought I had a pretty good idea of what they were all about.
After reading these post's it seems to me that their role and specific rules regarding their team were unknown to most players. For instance, I've read something about head shots only..I hadn't heard anything regarding this until after the fact! That would explain some things that I witnessed during play but was unaware of at the time. Prior to the start of the game I was under the impression that they would at times be fighting for different sides, if that was the case I was never able to determine....If I identified a Merc I took aim and let loose as it seemed to me that they were only targeting Coalition players?
The Mercanarie's, their role and specific rules regarding their team is the only thing I personally thought needed clarification. This was one of the best Hunt for the Cure games ever in my opinion and I hope the tradition can continue for many years to come.
Good job Wild Bunch...Thanks

The head shot thing (as written in the rules posted on WB's site) was a rule for N.P.C.'s. A merc lives or dies under the same rules as coalition or E.A.(unless of course a game reff has some sort of special mission rule)
As for the "seemed like Mercs targeted Coalition" observation, perception may be reality...but it is still perception. I can only speak for myself and those I ran with. Yes we had missions that forced us to "do something" at specific locations on the map, did the scenario put us there because someone else would also be there? that I do not know.
As for free will on the field, any time I had a chance to walk past players...I did. In fact there was a walk along the valley where I had (in range) about 10-12 YELLOW backs, that was not my mission. We looked at each other but no one shot, it was tense and a highlight for me. We had missions, we were not mindless killers hunting players. My experience was that many of our best attacks on RED ended with getting shot up from YELLOW on our 6. Besides mission's I really only recall pushing into "base" areas once on YELLOW and once on RED.

Rest assured mercs targeted EA just as much.
Right before the lunch break, we got hit hard back by the shooting range / barracks area (steep hill on the giant left field for those who know the field but not the locations of game day). This was pretty deep into what would be our "half" of the field if you were dividing it based on EA/Coalition.
Which goes right back to what I said -- not one of us got to see the whole picture of what was happening.

Did you try to contact some coal players on another channel? I had someone claiming to be a coal spy over my radio (channel 6) and told me he was going to pass info down through my channel, which i thought was bogus but this would explain the situation haha if it was you.

I had a good time. This was my 2nd year playing HFTC, and my wife's first scenerio event ever.
I to was really confuzzled about the role the Merc's were playing, nothing was ever said that I remember, so I was trying to figure out who these guys were....
I liked the way the missions went this year ,and the NPC's added to the game.
unfortunately, when I went for paint, they didn't have the Premium left, and I had gotten the BT Munitions paint. These were almost cubes instead of balls. I had never had problems with Premium, so I hadn't budgeted for the higher level paint.
The only thing game wise I didn't like as well as last year, was the end battle. It turned painfull really quickly, with that much paint flying in that small of an area. We pulled out and went stalking the rest of the field looking for others that were wandering.
We still had fun, and would still like to see this happen next year!

From my teams perspective the funniest part of the game was at the very beginning...
So we are at Base Camp getting ready to rush down the path to hopefully gain control of the "Octagon". Now you have to realize this is my first time at Splat Tag, and my first time at a big game. My instructions were to lead my team and follow C4 down to the Octagon and maintain a perimeter if EA has already estbalished control. So my adrenaline is rushing and I am ready to do some damage!
So the buzzer rings and I'm running faster than a guy my age should! I get ten feet from the first railroad tie bunker and then it hits me...I swallow a bug...fat juicy BUG! So I start hacking behind the barrier! I'm not talking a sissy hack hear...I'm talking almost a full blown vomitting hack! So my buddy leans over asn says..."What...did you get shot in the throat"..as I'm making a gurgling sound..."No I just swallowed Insectasaurous!"
I finally get insectasaurous dislodged...pick up my gun rasie it to lay down some heavy amounts of paint when SPLAT! EA puts one dead center between my eyes! I'm thinking to myself...good one tough guy! 1.5 minutes and your making the walk to the dead zone! Oh well...at least I got a little extra protein!laughing:)laughing:)

When I got to cover to check myself my double pod pack was torn off hanging by a strap and my Carbine was toast, completely full of dirt. It was a crate but it fell forward, man I can still picture your landing. it was like in slow motion.your lucky they didn't get you on tape. It always seems like i get taped when I dont want to. lol
Just to clarify some things. Nobody knew about the mercs, it was a surprise. They were eliminated just like everyone else. At the start they reinserted at a cone not far from the fire fight that was going on, so some people thought they might be cheating, which they were not. They were also allowed to reinsert anywhere on the tape line, so a lot of times they were back into a fire fight pretty quick making it seem like they wiped and just started shooting again.
I see the comments about cheating that went on and should let you guys know that we did have more ref punches this year then ever before. But the majority of them were for small things like dead men talking. I personally did not see any wiping or playing on.
Yes there were some people shooting hot, we were randomly cronoing people on the field and checking when we got a complaint. Checking FPS is something we could have done better.
The paint was bouncing like mad. I saw quite a few people accused of cheating when they took a bunch of bounces and the other player swore they hit them. I took a number of hit through out the day and the only one that broke was to my mask.
The rules are complex and need to be read and re-read. They can be confusing to the ref also, especially when you guys are always pushing the limits and asking questions about something in a gray area. Which by the way I expect, we do it at all the games we go to. Outside the box thinking is what they call it.
What I saw was a lot of stand up paintball and people having fun.
Lets us know what you like, what you didn't like and why. That's is the only way to make a better game.
I hope everyone enjoyed the game.

I remember an instance where one of the dead squad guys shot the tower towards the top with his LAW. (Perfect shot by the way) The ref's proceeded to get the dead out of the top. everyone started yelling at the guys in the bottom of the tower"your out, your out, your out) I came running up to the guys and said" No if you fire a law round at a two story stucture only the players on the level hit are eliminated. The law guy said"OK" he fired, direct hit Lower level. It was sweet. Left4Dead told me on the phone yesterday the law guy was the same guy that helped me back to first aid at the end of the game.(sweet Airbow man).

3. to the rest of you Anarchists, you all have my deepest gratitude and sincerest thanks. we know who dominated the field all day. despite the outcome of the game you should all know I am proud of you for the effort you put forth and the courage you showed. I only wish that I could afford to give away more than one MVP.
4. Dark storm or whatever your name is, I am pretty sure I have your radio.
5. AKA, spoke with you after the game, having played for you and against you now in the last two HFTC's, let me say it is a privilige to know such a stand up guy.
6. Brutis and the rest of the WB, I posted on your forum already, but thank you for the time, effort and energy that you guys put into this game. it means as much to those of us that play in it as it does to the charity we have the opportunity raise money for.
oh, and krustie, if your spy was as good as you claim, he would have shot me while he was standing behind me in that pic, that was the mission I was supposed to help complete as a requirement of the game. we had already identified him as the spy but had no "justifiable cause" to call him out as needed per the game rules. we knew he completed his mission of blowing up the Motorpool, and as we had no intentions of purchasing the tank was of little concern to us. his ability to "redirect" Coalition troops mattered little to me. and for the record Anarchy owned 2/3 of the field all day. the only time you got close to the EA base was when you sent a large force to try and assassinate me.

Sweet Airbow man is actually Andrew "Firefly", he really is a good guy to know. On and off the field. Very strange though.

coming from one of the Blue team (Mercs) We at No time discussed or planned Head Shots, we were a team of 17 or less at all times with missions that sent us in the middle of two teams with over 150 players on each side, so of course when were under fire were gonna take the best shot possible & if a ball hits a mask it's by chance not design. We also had our own ref that followed us all day to supervise our missions & conduct. We on two seperate occasions attacked both main bases & we only engaged both teams when they got in our way of our missions, there was numerous times we bypassed yellow & red completely because we had time limits & not the numbers of personnal to engage.I wish more was known about the Mercs day of fighting & missions because it was a unique experience to be on such a small unit surrounded by so many enemies, some epic battles, like the one that had most of the Coalition surrounding 10 of us at the Fort on Maze field!
At first we reinserted at a cone but when 50 guys surrounded it then safety became a issue. We then were able to insert anywhere along the west tapeline which for such a small force allowed us not to drop dead of fatigue lol

Let me share how the day started.....
We heard "Game on!" *crys & screams of "attack!" etc... *We knew our small team was about to feel more hits than we could imagine, 300 players running to the middle....where we stood waiting, they didn't know what we were about but they were about to
find out......
*The Coalition was first to arrive, a force of over a 100 came running over the hill....lead by this Jedi of a runner...young Tanner of XLR8.... leading yellow by over 30 yards his confidence was building with every step...his chest swelled & the Coalition cheered his pointman stance...........,then all of a sudden....a shot was heard & a paintball hit the young warrior right in the Gogs!.........the young warriors confidence was gone.....he threw his arms down & turned back to base.....& fellow Coalition soldiers stopped in their tracks.....A smile glowed from afar.....the shot was from Darrin..........& the Mercs presence was known..... *

On this map you notice the bottom section is blue,Middle section Yellow,Top red,(the green section was our safe zone) We knew that everyone would want to fight at the new Octagon field because of its sweetness, but in this game there were no points for holding the tower field, accept for mission directing towards it.(the tower field was a diversion all day)When there was a mission near the Hospital, lab or farm we would push hard to get tower field. and Everytime we needed tower field for an objective it was cleared in less than 10 minutes, our goal was to hold the second Verticle line(our secondary line). It was held most of the day accept for a few groups of players that took us out(cutoes to them).(that did have alot to do with my base was 30 ft from were the Merc inserted into the game.(I think they were just testing there markers on us)LOL.now if you notice my blue color goes all the way back to the Barracks, that ment I was in charge of getting snipers back there to cause Havok.(mission Acomplished)C4,Standard and Reidaman were out there all day. XLR8 was on the ridge by the Baracks all afternoon causing Havok.(Great job guys). yes we probably didn't get to your base because all your players were backed up that far and it just wasn't a point to it. I'm not gonna sit here and argue, you guys did a great job. just trying to figure where your 2/3rds of the map you dominated all day is? the point is, its just a game and us bickering back in forth just shows unsportsmanship. you were a great General Mustangman, I fought under you at Battle of Serinity valley.
As far as my spy,,,Dark Storm, He is new to paintball ,a rockie if I might say, you used a senior player and he got caught because he was bragging. yes he caused havok and did a good job. Darkstorm wanted to shoot you on the tower but like I said "he was a new player to paintball". he knew it was more important to meet his Handler at 4pm to complete his last Mission.
Just say good job and move on. I'm done with this thread and moving on to
C4C and GBG thread. "Great job everyone"

You know...After seeing that map, I'm surprised that we didn't encounter anyone when we reached the tower. If that was suppose to be a rally point, we must have hit it at just the right time...which was a good thing considering we only had 3 shooters left by then.
BTW: Nice job keeping them occupied at the Lab, Thalion. Bought us enough time to complete our two objectives...even though we had to re-clear the lab on the way back!

Well. I suppose it is alright to say something, now that the game is over now.
I would like the thank the Fellow Mercs that ran with us. MN Terminators, Damage Inc., and a few others.
It was a great experience. Its not every day that you get a chance like this, I'm glad i was able to do it.
As for some of the confusion. I was hoping they would announce us in the game briefing.. but never did. That probably would have let people know a little bit better. As for special rules for us. The only one was that we could re-insert anywhere along the WEST Tape line. (It started at a cone down by Back Valley, but that got dangerous real quick) We were just like regular players.
To be honest. When the day started. I was wondering why we were even doing this. We were a group of 16 regular players, against 300 other people shooting at us. It was TOUGH, anyone else on the Mercs will tell you that. Honestly, i thought we were getting our butts handed to us for a while. But i think right around Lunch time, we over heard the refs talking about what they were hearing from the teams out their. Both the Coalition and the Mercs, most the day were saying: "The blue guys are comeing, The blue guys are coming" So i guess we were doing exactly what they wanted us to do, strike fear into you guys.
I would also like to send out a special thanks to Darrins paint monkey. Waffles, he is a new ref at Splat Tag this year. A great choice by Darrin, the kid had the energy to keep up with us the whole day, and he new the fields very well. Darrin told us early in the morning, that we need to keep him alive no matter what. I dont remember the exact numbers, but Cutstep already told you how many missions he completed for us. With NO gun. If their was any MVP on the Merc team, he was it.
Thank you Wild Bunch
Thank you Splat Tag
Thank you Darrin
Thank you to everyone that came out and shot at me :D

so how much fun did shaman have after I blew up your motorpool?
I think Shaman had a bit of a rough day, getting shot up in the Blackhawk with me, being called out as a spy and having to answer for it...
I've played out at Splattag with Mitch (Shaman) for the past few years and he's a stand-up player and a good dude. I told him that being called out as a spy is like a compliment because lots of people think that Generals pick players that have a good reputation so nobody would suspect them, so being called out is like saying you have a good rep.

I would like to post this because i have heard rumors cirulating about playing on and wiping and shooting hot and the like. In EVERY Hunt game i have reffed i have heard these complaints. Heck in Every game i have PLAYED in i heard such complaints. From the time i spent on the field i did not see such actions (doesn't mean they didn't happen) BOTH teams had such complaints levied against them. But let me tell you this BOTH teams played well! WB takes all complaints we hear seriously. We want people to enjoy what is really good competition and fun as well as raising money for a great cause!!
There will always be complaints of such sorts, Let me leave you with a few sayings that I use on a regular basis
"Optimum est pati quod emendare non possis." (It is best to endure what you cannot change.)

The BT paint had an extremely hard shell... almost compareable to another form of death paint I will not get into.
I think that would be the reason for all the complaints about the hot shooting. LOL Get shot by little pebbels hurts like Heck!!!!

Funny story. I was behind the Mess hall talking on the radio and a ref was standing there because I assume a mission was coming that way. wasn't even paying attention and a merc walked into the game(Mass Hall was 30 ft from Merc entrance) turn and shot my in the shoulder. I yelled "Medic" as the medic came around the corner I got gogged. I was scrouched on my tippie to toes 30 ft away. knocked me right on my arse. as i was falling I said . "forget it" .lol.so I took the walk while my medic held the base.(good job Cowboy)
It comes down to. Paintball sometimes hurt and sometimes don't. If you don't like the pain, then play competative Chess. LOL

I'll just echo what WC said and concur...
As a ref, I took a shot right above my visor in the middle of my forehead in the final battle with the green paint.
After I got both my eyeballs out of the same socket, I cursed a little and carried on. It's a high intensity game, and when it's that close, emotions can flare a little. There's a reason that the first four letters of the game are PAIN... just sayin...lol
I saw nothing but stand up play from my limited vantage point from everyone I saw.

Wild Bunch,
Would you be willing to assemble all the historical HftC information you have on your site somewhere? I'm thinking one main page for each year, with the Generals, points scored, money raised, etc. plus copies of the "news stories", maps, pictures of props, etc?
I know it's a lot of work, but it would be really neat to look through it all. From the quality of the game each year, it's obvious you are putting your hearts and souls into it, and you have a right to show it off. :)

.What was this about one of the Blue teams being a "Head Shot Only" team?
It probably wasn't a team, just all the pumpers.
For some reason people now days (doesn't matter what field) seem to think they're not out unless they get hit more than once. This makes things very difficult for pumpers so we just shoot for the head, that way there are no arguements. LOL!

I have to agree with Krutsie, even though he was on the Coalition side. We have not been back to OK D-Day for a few years and "The Hunt" has become a tradition for my son's and I. We sure would like to see it continue!
I know that we, the players, are asking a lot of the Wild Bunch to continue and I can only imagine how much work it really is. I also noticed the slow start up for this years game, I would imagine that it was probably hard to get enough people involved to get it going, especially 6 years in a row!
Perhaps we could all work together to make HFTC 2011 happen and not leave it all on the backs of the Wild Bunch! Enough of us have been to The Hunt a few times that we may be able to help
To that end I'd like to throw out a few ideas to get the ball rolling:
1. Reduce some of the complication of the game.
2. We, the players, need to step up and volunteer to help, yes maybe to even help ref and understand what the refs had to deal with (with the shoe on the other foot there might even be less complaining about some of the things that occurred)
3. Perhaps some of us could volunteer to play 1/2 time and work the other 1/2.
4. more to come, chime in ...
Thanks again to the Wild Bunch and Splat Tag for the HFTC X6, I solicit everybody's ideas about future HFTC games and I will resist starting a "HFTC 2011 Unofficial Thread" for a few more months.

Just one thing to consider before pressuring WB a bit more - there may be other factors at work besides Wild Bunch putting in so much time and effort (which is enormous, I don't intend to detract from that).
What other factors exist, I would have no idea. All I do know is there is so much more to the logistics and background of an event like the Hunt that none of us have seen half the big picture.
