last year i bought the firefox throat mic and i was not impressed. i couldn't get it to work at all. so i switched to a boom mic which as worked excellent for me. but i would like to go back to a throat mic. and brand suggestions? money is kind of a concern. i use a motorola walkie with the single headset plug.

Sorry to here you had problems with your firefox throat mic. I had problems with mine at the first and realized that I needed the proper attatchment plug. Being we are sponsored by Firefox I can talk to my Rep and see if we can get it figured out for you. At least for a backup throat mic being you've moved on to another brand.

the problem i had with them was me having to yell for it to pick up my voice. from what i've heard all you should be able to do is whisper or talk softly and have it pic up your voice. i would love to go back to a throat mic cause with a boom mic my helmet pinches the ear piece and its uncomfortable to use.
below is a link to the one i purchased. well the two i purchased bought one for each walkie. it couldn't pick up my voice unless i was practically yelling into it.

My brother has a Firefox throat mic and I always have to ask him to repeat himself.
I've had really good luck with these (http://www.google.com/products?q=motorola+56320&hl=en). People hear me clearly, and I can hear clearly. You have to press the button on the radio to talk, which is a good thing. People with VOX jam up the channels broadcasting their panting and wheezing.

thats exactly what i'm using now. but sometimes my mask strap pinches the ear piece when in my ear. the strap goes right over it and feels pretty uncomfortable.

I think I got it at Gander Mountain. I picked up a spare in Cabela's "bargain cave" (shudder).
They have the longer Motorola-style jacks, so they only work on Motorola radios, I think.

I was told by my rep at firefox that the standard issued firefox thoat mic was for a Motorola single prong. they sell addapters for diferent models of walkies. I will be making an order shortly. I'll get back to ya in direct PM.
