View Full Version : New Toy I saw at D-Day
I’ve seen a new grenade this year at D-Day Oklahoma. I was wondering if anyone’s used it yet. I talked to the developer and it looks promising. At least you can reuse it. The only bad thing about it was that they won’t allow it on some fields. They say it’s because there is a possibility it would knock of someone’s mask…..unlikely. Darrin would you let this fly?

Hate to say it, but it's not really that new.
It was at D-Day '08 too. He was practically desperate to sell those; kept pushing how great they were for whatever reasons.
I see it as something where too many things can go wrong. It's expensive, and you can lose it / someone steal it after you throw it. It would need to be chrono'd (each barrel).
And what are the odds that it will land the correct way, triggering and working exactly as the video suggests? I'd bet more often than not, it'll hit at varying angles, which will render it a lot less effective.

You're off to war baby! Or else you get smoked! This is paintball baby!
This design would make a much better mine, add 4 to 6 more ball barrels and you've got a winner.

I could see a design being implemented as a mine, but I simply doubt a grenade will land perfectly right to get the effect desired with it.

not to mention the metal construction makes it a serious safety issue. highly doubt someone is going to be standing perfectly still while you throw tis in their direction

We a couple of friends and I went down there in 08, he demonstrated it for us on grass and it worked just fine.
Problems I see with it are, Recovery of it after you throw it, and you throwing a chunk of aluminum in someone's directions. Otherewise it's a really cool idea, I think he should take the fin off and then rig it up to a tripwire to set it off.

Hmm...kinda like the smoke cans that were being thrown around Dday like they were water balloons? lol
