Well done Coalition!

I enjoyed myself thoroughly, cutting mercs in half as they rushed yellow bridge.

(and getting myself cut in half at yellow bridge)

And the water treatment plant when MN Mayhem ran head-long into it, I was behind the plant laying a thick stream of paint right before the entrance. Quite the effort you guys showed, I thought for sure if you made it in there we were all dead.

The ONE thing that had me down was the cease fire situations often had me stand up when the horn blew- only to have merc continue firing.

the 2nd one right before the final battle, I got shot 15 times. The first 4 were to the face/head, then while refs and other players were screaming "cease fire" I turned my back to try and get out of there and they just keep shooting me in the back/head. Actually kind of made me angry considering the circumstances (there shouldn't have been any shooting). and gave me quite the head-ache.

Bonus balling aside, because i know people get caught up in the action, I did see a lot of stand-up paintball today. Good job to the Mercs for putting up a hell of a fight, I saw a lot of suicide charges from you guys, probably more than we had. Congrats to AKA, the Pelicans, and all the Coalition players for our win, judging by how close the scores were every single one of you guys made the difference.

A big thanks to the Wild Bunch, the volunteers, Darrin, Splattag, and all of the sponsors for putting together and running this event, good times!

One thing I want to know is, in the second half, what was that on the Coal radio about some Anarchy guys with a silver briefcase behind the Coal base? This had to be some kinda Merc deception...there was nobody there.

I had an awesome time at my first HFTC! Mowing charges down, and getting mowed down on a few charges. One question for Coalition and Mercs alike, were ANY charges actually successful? None of the charges I rained paint on were, and none of the charges I took part in were either. Actually I'm guessing some were successful at least partially.

Anyway, awesome game, thanks Wild Bunch and Splat tag for putting it on, and to top the day off I got a Save Phace mask in the raffle:D

Nice work all, both sides.

Thank you Darrin and Wild Bunch for hosting and running.

And Wild Bunch, I wound up with something of yours that needs returning - the LAW changed hands a couple times that day and we wound up with your barrel blocking device for it.

I'll get it to you at the next game.

Sorry about that, there was a lot of confusion in that last hour (and after the game).

I can vouch for the suicide charges by Mercs haha, I got the welts to prove it. The coalition was really good at taking a position and hunkering down, you guys were a very tough opponent congrats. I got frustrated because of the lack of communication between the bridge teams, where we would create a diversion with the boat and no one would take advantage, and most times I would be leading the suicide charges into bridges.
On a more positive note though, I thank all the Mercs that pushed with me at the beginning of the day, we took Op Zulu, and then pushed the Coals back to Yellow Bridge, thank you for suicidely following me haha

In the beginning of the day I led a charge with the Mercs that drove Coalition forces out of Op Zulu and chased them down to the other side of Yellow bridge where they finally hunkered down, so yes, some charges were successful. After that, however, I just found myself doing suicide runs with a small group of people.

Lol, the boat diversions. I saw a few of those and was like "what the..??? Are they suicidal or something?" But then as soon as the boat guys got destroyed I'd have to run over and and defend against a charge, but yeah, they never occured at the same time; at least not that I saw.

And I must say that probably my favorite part of the whole day was "ambushing" a Merc charge and shooting out probably 8 guys with only 400 psi left in my tank:D Good thing I was close though, otherwise there would be no way anything would have broken on them.

I LOVE the logs and brush near the bridge closest to the staging area. I got to snipe some ppl across the "river" from theresniper:)

Great day:)

Anybody get pics/vid?

THanks Agian Wild Bunch and Darrin for another fun filled Scenario game.

I do have to say the best part of the day for me was holding blue bridge ( after the lunch break) and the neck on my hopper broke.. its always fun trying to hand feed your marker to keep people back. I only wish i could have stayed for the hold game. after talking to the team after they got back it would like the final battle ways a BLAST!

Yeah all the charges were awesome. I saw pushes on Yellow Bridge that were insane. I was Reffing the Coalition push past OP Zulu then watched the Mercs run them back to the bridge. and learned a important lesson also (never cross MN Mayhems line of fire :scared0012:) I didnt see any signs of cheating and very little bad language Thanks for keeping it disney everyone!! I hope everyone had a great time and I am looking forward to Reffing this game again next year!

Woodland Security had great time. Thankyou Darrin ,wildbunch, sponsors for such a great event.
Darrin,What you've done for this sport is above and beyond any Compliment anyone can give. I had one of my squad member ask me on the way home. Whats so special about SplatTag. I though for a while and had a hard time answering back. Were does a guy start. Splatt Tag is more about the dedicated teams and players that play there. they play the game with Honor and respect. I've found this forum really helps alot of people get to know alot of local players . I don't know how many times I had some one come up to me and say ,Hi Krutsie I'm :::::::: .I did have one guy say to me, wow Krutsie, you actually not as goofy looking as your Avatar Picture.( that avatar picture was taken after one of our Favous Ironman games,I know a few witnessed how bruttle they are at the Frostbuster game)
Well, What do I say. one of my faults as a Captain is I hate walking up to a choke point and seeing 30+ coalition players held back by a few mercs. First time .we were past the Yellow bridge and for some reason my marker wasn't firing. I always feel I might s well go off the field with honor . so I yelled(everyone knows my voice is loud and carries a long way). anyone want to use me as a human shield? everyone looked at me funny. I started screeming and charged up the hill. got half the way up the hill an stoped behind this tree. I looked behind me and only one of Thalions sisters followed me.(please remind me which one Ladies). I yelled back, "Come on" then they came like opening the flood gates. I had this guy about 20 feet away from me . we both looked at each other and I aimed my marker and yelled ,BANG,BANG,BANG, "Man did I get a funny look, then he shot me.
I constantly yelled and organized suiside charges all day. Its fun.
Me and a few guys were hunkered down by the island and all of a sudden the seal team (diversion) came down with innertube. Three of us killed them all. It was sweet, (to anyone at the blue bridge fort,(Warehouse) that was me yelling in the ravine) A fast guy came and took the tube back to base. The final Battle was the bomb. Woodland Security’s orders were to hold the Red bridge for 35 minutes. For the first hour we did suiside runs every 5 minutes, (that was me at the red bridge laying on my belly 20 feet past the bridge. Also I made it to the ridge . got a massive hematoma on my shoulder to prove it. What the Mercs didn’t know is. Right across the bridge was Me with my M82A1,Joker with his A5 m203 (Those response triggers are sweet) and in the middle our savior, mr pump man himself. “CRAZY DAVE” ( I think he had over 15 single player kills)we put a world of hurt on the chinesse flag guys twice ,kinda felt bad…………..Nah..
Thanks to the ref that came up and asked if my Marker was fully auto. HEHEHE., I told him is wasn’t a complete day without any ref questioning my marker. It rips . Jokers is faster.
Well. I think a lot of People think I’m Crazy. And I say .YES. My sniper Jamie took on a few charges also. Nothing funnier that seeing a sniper in full gilly charging a bridge .

Anyways, More stories to come when I come back to my sences.

My Coalition Brothers,

The Coalition players worked and played their hearts out, every single one. Coming up with my personal picks for MVT and MVP was harder by far than anything I did all day. How do you choose a standout when everyone is outstanding?!

Thalion's addition to our communications was generous and invaluable. And so was all the paint he gave out in the Final Battle.

Mustangman and his Working Class Heroes rocked very hard.

With their excellent communication and unlimited energy, Thalion, Mustangman and Gearhead gave me a clearer picture of the field than I ever thought possible.

Being back in the C.P., I was aware of only a small fraction of the heroic fights all over. Everywhere were dozens of small battles won by guts, wits and sweat.

Thank you all for what you accomplished yesterday. I am proud to have served as the XO.

This was the best day of paintball I've ever had.

first off i would like to thank Wild Bunch for putting on an awesome scenario that benefits such a worthy cause, and i was proud to be a part of it and had tons of fun.

A big thanks goes to darrin for letting us use the field and thanks coalition for being worthy opponents, you faought well....or just camped in bunkers the whole day rather. haha jk

@ braddoc, i saw when you kept getting hit, there were like 3 guys that just kept shooting so they probably couldnt hear the ppl yelling or horns going off. I didnt shoot btw lol i stopped. sorry that you got lit up.

i would also like to thank Ghost Wolf for doing an awesome job at Generel, and gongrats AKA on the win. maybe you wont be so lucky next time :character0095:

A special thanks to Wild Bunch for organizing an event so fun, it's hard to believe it's legal! :D

The props were cool (love that bomb!). The refs were helpful and fair, and everywhere. The scenario was fantastic, with plenty of clever and interesting twists.

One thing I want to know is, in the second half, what was that on the Coal radio about some Anarchy guys with a silver briefcase behind the Coal base? This had to be some kinda Merc deception...there was nobody there.

Talking it over with people after the game, I'm pretty sure that was Wild Bunch messing with us. The only Invisible Anarchy guy anyone saw all day was the Person of Interest we captured at the Yellow Bridge.

And of course, thanks to Ghostwolf for bringing it. He got loads of sponsors and goodies, and brought teams from hours away to play hard.

Thanks to everyone on the Coalition side for fighting so hard all day and for putting up with me yelling directions all day. when we were working together as a group, we were pretty much unstoppable.

AKA and Mondo. you guys did a good job, thanks for letting Thalion and I commandeer some of your authority on the field. makes things a lot easier on the field when we can lead from the front and let you guys keep the game moving from the command center.

Wild Bunch, once again, you guys have put on by far one of if not the best scenario game in the area. you guys do an excellent job setting up the game as well as running it, Thank You.

to all the players on both sides, thank you for exhibiting the kind of sportsmanship that is so desperately needed. I don't think I heard once, any one complaining of wiping or playing on.

and to all you Mercs who found it fun to shoot at the medic, I am covered in welts from all the bounces, but that was by far the most challenging thing I have ever had to do on any paintball field.

Hey Mustang I was the medic for the merc's so I know what you mean I found new ways to dodge paint flying at me while trying to make it to the downed player. I wasn't to excitted to be a medic when I first found out but had a lot of fun with it all day. :)

haha, yeah. I was over by red bridge right before the that cease-fire was called.

In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have been as mad about it as I was, I got hit a lot more than that trying to rush across blue and yellow bridge throughout the course of the day. But I guess it was the idea that everyone else had stopped shooting, was putting barrel bags on and such, and I got blazed without being able to defend myself, nor was I really expecting the first few shots to the face/head.

Oh well, it made me hungry for the final battle. I didn't let it retract from what a good time I had through the rest of the day either. I have so many awesome memories from yesterday (sorry to those 2 mercs walking up the trail to zulu right before you took it back, I shot the first guy in the side of the head a few times, I think. Wasn't trying to to head-hunt)

stuff worth re-telling. And it was fun that 3 of the guys I came with went merc, so I would get back to the car and it would be like "I just cut you guys up at yellow bridge" and "Yeah, well we just pushed you across red" and etc. it was great.

I had a great time. When we came across red bridge after it was rebuilt we caught the mercs by surprise, it was awesome. I went through 4 hoppers in about 2 minutes when we got to the top of the hill. Oh and whoever my team mate was that I accidentally shot while I was filling my hopper....... sorry, my bad. The ref thought it was funny, I don't think the casualty did though.

Just so you know, the guy that did keep shooting sincerely apologized to me and i beleive he honestly didnt hear the horn with the shooting going on. I thought it was funny that he apologized to me (the guy just standing there) and not the guy he kept shooting lol.

As far as stories my team was hitting yellow bridge all day hard. When we had to take the island Me and one other guy led the charge across the bridge, down the hill and then i popped up on the side of blue bridge. The mercs were just sitting there when i came up and i prolly sent 20 mercs back to the castle in 5 seconds. Right after i cleared the way we had a massive rush from Blue to reinforce, a nice little one two punch!

thanks to everybody who came out and looked like alot of players gave it all they could muster. I would also like to comment on all the stand-up players,
you guys made it easy to ref. I hardly had to tell someone they were hit(except for hits they would never feel) there's nothing better than honest paintball players and people giving a thumbs up to somone who shot them out. everyone knows cheating will ruin a day for others... thanks to all.

I would to like to thank all honest players. Ill be the first to congratulate someone on a nice shot, and the first to let some one cheating me have a piece of my mind. On numerous occasions, i was hitting people from extremely long distances, one time, and i couldnt even see if i hit him. Lets face it, those shots are extremely easy to wipe, and time after time people were calling themselves out, makes you feel good :)

On a separate note, there were one or two guy that i noticed not calling themselves. I remember on one specific merc charge on the yellow bridge, i was moved up close to it and they didnt know i was there. They charged and i caught it from the side and destroyed the rush, one man decided it would be a good idea to just lay down and keep shooting after i hit him. I put prolly another 50 + balls into this man from 20' away before this guy called anything, and i know he was hurting. If any of you cheat me, you better be getting ready to take a few balls.

The Newb
05-04-2009, 01:39 PM
Yes, you are a newb. Who says my organization has anything to do with anarchy? Are you confusing the Mercenaries with Envision Anarchy? Did you bother to actually read the storyline or are you just spewing to hear yourself spew? If I am unimpressed with chest thumping coming from the accomplished leader of an experienced Scenario team (Bunker Butthead), what makes you think that anything you say will elicit anything more than laughter?

Mondo Mor, please stop pointing out my PsyOps to your players... you're spoiling my fun. ;)

AKA, Foster and I made promises to each other last year that neither of us would use the patch given to us to misrepresent ourselves as being members of "the other side". I would make the same promise to you.

Thalion... chill out, big guy, it's all in fun.

Slick @ss@ss'n, Bunker Busser and the rest of you... nothing you have said has offended me in any way. Not even the ghostpuppy comment. I actually laughed the first time I saw that.

The only thing that matters is that we all have a good time, play honorably, avoid injuries and raise lots of money for HDSA. At the end of the day, we're all paintballers and that's cool.

G (I'z in ur base, drinkin' ur booz!) W beret:)

Apparently you had more to do with Anarchy then you wanted us to believe. I wonder if I knew what was going on before even the "enlightened" General did. ;)

And I couldn't agree with you more that when the day is done as long as their were no substantial injuries and lot's of money was made for the organization (and we all had fun), that's awesome....

Like Evolkers and most everyone else has said, good fair game everyone. I only had one instance of someone not calling their hit (also at the yellow bridge). i started shooting a second or two before him, hit him, then he hit me, at the very least we should have traded out, but as I got up to walk out I saw that he was still laying there shooting at my teamates, but there was no ref handy so i just decided to go back, spawn, and then come shoot him again:)

But other than that, great sportsmanship on both sides, and great at calling hits and checking yourself when someone on the other team yells at you to check something. An instance of that was down at the bridge by tower field; I was laying in a pile of logs and brush and saw a pod pack sticking out from behind a tree across the "river". After a few shots I got them in the pod pack and I yelled out for him to check his pod pack; within a few seconds he called himself out.

I had a great time, thanks to all of the players, Merc and Coalition, for a great game of paintball.:D

Wow what a day! It really came down to the wire in points, up to the very last minute. I know the pin really changed hands quite a bit on blue bridge up to the final seconds. Both sides charged back and forth - alot of hurt there for the last hour! (and throughout the day no less) :scared0012: I have many many welts to prove it laughing:)

Krutsie, I was at blue bridge with you when we cut up the Merc seal team. I know i shot at least two pods by the time they got down to the river, nice shooting! We hit them all before they even touched the water! beret:)

I was shooting a pump for the first half of the day and I seen alot of honesty. I could see orange splats and had little trouble getting people out. One referee followed our group around. When we thought we hit someone he would go do paintchecks and make sure! It was a great help - and awesome to see someone put in that much effort to run during the day. I wish i would have gotten a name! Thanks so much for helping keep things fair.

The props were amazing - the bomb was really impressive! Nothing like stopping it in the nick of time. Did the Merc's receive a similiar package from the friendly neighborhood UPS man?

I had a great time - I can barely move today. Splattag's terrain is brutal, especially going to all corners of the field over and over! Thanks for the great day of play! sniper:) Great weather, great players, amazing field, what more could you ask for?

I have to say there was one hit that someone could have wiped without me seeing. I was lobbing them over the wall into the bunker between blue and yellow bridge and one ball hit... I couldn't see the player but saw his hands go up.

On the bad side though if I was hit and I couldn't see it and it was questionable if it broke or bounced I'd get a ref, but with that many people it was sometimes hard so I'd ask a fellow merc that would be near me if there was a break and point to the area I was hit. On 2 or 3 occations when I asked they'd say something like "Yeah.. just wipe it off" which was a dissapointment to me that these younger players would play that way to which I'd respond "I'll just go tag back in, it only takes a minute" trying to encourage them to play fair. It also sucks when you have to tell a person on your side to go tag back in after they clearly look at where they just got hit.

I was a merc on the yellow bridge. I was wearing a black tanktop. I participated in one of the charges and was hit as I fell. once I hit the ground, with my face none the less, I held my gun sideways over my head for a sec and was getting beamed on the top of my head yet so I brought it down to cover the top of my head, gun still sideways mind you, until I could get up without getting ripped apart. There were a lot of balls flying. My guess is there were still mercs behind me and I was just caught in the crossfire.

This was me out there ===> hd:)

Drinking out of my hydropack the water went from cold to warm to cold. The warm being where the hose was against my back. Put my mask on after filling air once and I had streams of sweat running down my lense from the top foam soaking up my sweat.

I'm the Coalition guy that ran out there four times and switched it, Badmoon and some others can vouch for that. during the last ten seconds or so i ran out to switch it one final time. and when i say it rained, i mean IT FREAKIN POURED! not only did i get lit up, but when i stood up and turned to walk away, my own coalition ppl ran right into me, so i continued to be lit up lol i think person taking film of us walking off the feild got a good shot of me, i was litterally dripping with paint, i even still had my mask on. i looked straight at the camera, and gave it rock on fist. i got lit up worse than ever before, all within ten seconds, i even lost $40 out on the feild( think it fell out of my pocket) but believe it or not im not even upset about it. I'm too stoked about how great that day went that none of it matters. This is hands down the best game i've ever been to, and i thank the coalition, the mercs, AND the refs for making it that way. cant wait till next year!

An Awsome game once again. My second Hunt and I'm for sure coming back again. no real Issues except that I was sick and was wroking on about 4hr of sleep for the whole weekend (friday-monday/today). Luckally i'm homeschooled so i got to sleep in. (I love my mom)

Anyway. I say some brave players out there making those crazy runs. (well brave or crazy take your pick) I saw maybe 2 Bum rushes that worked but thats not to say there weren't more. I know Coalition made atleast 2 successfull one across Blue bridge (those I didn't see though) and a the ones I did see were at Yellow.

I'm the Coalition guy that ran out there four times and switched it, Badmoon and some others can vouch for that. during the last ten seconds or so i ran out to switch it one final time. and when i say it rained, i mean IT FREAKIN POURED!

Dude, I saw this and banked on it, it was awesome. Ran full tilt down the left side of the bridge in the trees and holed up on a tree and popped a good 10-12 guys every time. Kelly (Slumlord) did the same with his pump, he probably got like 20 kills. We jacked their counter attacks pretty bad.

The props were amazing - the bomb was really impressive! Nothing like stopping it in the nick of time. Did the Merc's receive a similiar package from the friendly neighborhood UPS man?

Yes the mercs did get the same delivery, courtesy of EV. Also nobody stopped the bomb from going off.

I am very sorry to have dropped this appointment on you MondoMor. I knew that this was going to be the hardest thing I(we) were going to have to do. When I had not discussed with you at the end of the day about the subject of MVT & MVP. When I was approached by a WB official asking if this job was settled:eek: I needed to have your help in this decision. With having two seperate and completly differant roles dealing with Teams & Players I felt that yours was much closer to them and and how all 200+ of them had been doing throughout the day. I had a differant type of contact with Teams and Players, but in all honosty I needed your opinion over mine to choose the winners. And with those choices I agreed.;) Thank-You Again!

On a differant notere:), I have been reading up on everone's stories about the Game. This is the only way that I can tell if everyone had a great time shooten' it up out there in the Battle Feilds. I really had a hard time telling because when I saw you all out there it was when you were making that LOONNGG Dead Man Walking trip, to touch up and get back out there. If tired looks are the sign of a Good Time then I would say you all had a Blast.:D

I would like to say to the Mercenary Force, Thank-you all for filling up your side so I could keep most of my recruits, finding out minutes before the Game that I had lost Mn. Mayhem to you had hit me personally, for I & MayhemBrando had been watching their head count grow from 2 in the beginning to 12 I had last heard. We did adjust for their loss, but for me I took it hard.

Also to the Mercenary Force, I did not get to watch much of your defence or your drives, but I surely heard about them, and your counters were tough to get around. Many of my missions were a disappointment due to your strongholds in the areas that I needed my Crews. All in All thanks Ghostwolf and the Mercenary Force for giving Myself and the Coalition Force a Great, Fair and hard fought Battle.;) Oh! one thing, what was the time left on your clock on the Bomb from Envision Anarchist when you stopped it? We stopped ours with only 52 seconds left. This was the Mission I had gone on, it was our last chance to retrieve the Gear from the water treatment plant with only minutes to get it and get it back and put in place. Thank-you to all who were involved in this mission by the way, it was my only fun off base and I even ended up getting two kills.:p

I did get into the final battle, shot a bunch at the blue bridge, things looked great for us there so I went up to Yellow bridge, helped in one charge got shot and walked back tagged in and watched the Blue Bridge Battle go back and forth for awhile then left the feild.:)

I have many Thanks for making this HFTC'09 memorable, I hope I can list them all with out offending anyone, some will be in-general.
First to Brutis and Wild Bunch for choosing me to represent the Coalition Forces General. I am no General and I think my Bunker Ref's will tell you that cuz of all the whining, just kidding I worked very hard to fit in the boots.
To Darrin and Splat-Tag for having such a Big Choice Area to play Scenario's and GBG's on where we can up the numbers of our Paintball Community to do battle in one place.
To Ghostwolf and all the Wisconsin Players and Minnesota ones too he recruited for this Game so the Coalition Recruiting was a go. And for his many gifts, he was not kidding when he said he was bringing Gift's. Great connections Ghostwolf.
To my XO MondoMor who stepped up when I asked him for his help at Command. Your a very gifted and valuable asset to the PBPBC and the Paintball Community MondoMor and I am glad you are with me rather than against me.
To all of the Teams and Independents that came to my aid when I had asked for their help. They are Great Teams with very Valuable Leaders that when they come together for a Game of Paintball they can make any General Shine. And the same goes for the Independents that brought in friends to help them get their numbers up, for the Independents will stay when a whole Team leaves.:p I don't think I need to list them since I think everyone even the Mercs has seen the LIST!;)
A special thanks to everyone on the Coalition Force who reported to duty at the Base on time at each Start of the Game, it made me feel safe!:character0095: And Thanks for the "Victory" I think....Cuz now I gotta come back next year to defend our WIN!:rolleyes:/AKA

Thanks to everyone that made this game possible, I had a great time! (aside from getting shot in the neck from 20' by my own team as I was walking off the field with my gun raised over my head)
my favorite part of the day was sniping people from behind the tree with all the dead leaves by warehouse. I cant even count how many people I picked off of the ridge on the other side of the river. I know it was bugging some people up there because a ref came down and said "they say your shooting hot can you shoot a few rounds over my chrono" without hesitation I said sure and shot 3 for him, he ran off laughing and told them I was good:D

Anyway. I say some brave players out there making those crazy runs. (well brave or crazy take your pick) I saw maybe 2 Bum rushes that worked but thats not to say there weren't more. I know Coalition made atleast 2 successfull one across Blue bridge (those I didn't see though) and a the ones I did see were at Yellow.

if your talking about the final battle, that was me at blue bridge. and i did it four times. the last 30 seconds of the game was the most intense, it was freaking insane how many times i got hit in the last 10 seconds lol.

Great game everybody! Cya out there next year!

We actually had to give up some players? Because when my team was picking up our registration packets one of our guys was accidentally assigned to the Mercs because he forgot to specify which side:rolleyes:

Me and another guy from our team were just arriving at our respawn when the SEAL team attacked, and my teamate got his law (that he had JUST brought out with him after returning from rearming back at his truck) ready while me and a couple of Pelican Brigade guys tried to keep the Mercs back. Oh and whoever my team mate was that I accidentally shot while I was filling my hopper....... sorry, my bad. The ref thought it was funny, I don't think the casualty did though.

was that the first 1/2 of the game at the Warehouse???

only reason I ask is after the mercs rushed the bridge and we pushed them back I started walking to the warhouse and got goggled by someone on our side ( didn't see who) he was about 15 feet away from me.

personaly I thought it was funny.. 1 min I can see clearly next min I am blind and have the nice taste of paint on my lips..

I drove myself and lead my co-worker (and his friends) out to the field, they went and registered before me and they said that they told them mercs needed players.

then when I went up to register they asked if I wanted to be a merc like my co-worker's group, I asked to be coalition and they said, "good, coalition needs players"

I think it went back and forth as more and more walk-ons showed up.

I'm too stoked about how great that day went that none of it matters. This is hands down the best game i've ever been to, and i thank the coalition, the mercs, AND the refs for making it that way. cant wait till next year!

My dad was right next to you during that charge (he's 60). He somehow took 2 balls under his mask (probably from our own players). His hair looked like a clown wig. His hopper was hit so many times that it broke about half the paint inside, knocked the battery door and batteries out of it, broke the back plate and switch and broke one of the screw posts off inside. Needless to say my hopper is shot. Talk about over shooting! LOL. Its the second time he's ever played, the first time was with a church group so you can hardly even count that. I just think it's funny how many people were complaining about being overshot and my senior citizen dad got it worse than anyone and he came off the field laughing because he had so much fun. Needless to say we got him hooked. He's coming to Giand Big Game and I'm sure he'll probably make most of the other games too.
All in all a great day. Thanks to everyone who had a hand in putting it on!

The welts look good in the pic. By the time we got back they were black and the side of his face was all swollen.

I can only recall of 2 times were I saw teams on the other sides of the bridges. One was when I wasn't on the field but we got footage of it. My guys led a charge that ended up in the tower field and after my guys got out the yardage we gained was lost.

The other was on the yellow bridge coalition had our guys running away like cowards with a 5 man coalition rush. They were like 50-100yds away from the bridge good push you guys. That was the only time I personally saw break through.... This was the really only time we got to play actual woodsball. My guys pushed back coalition until we reached the bridge, and then once again it became the maybe I can lob a ball at you game.

Idk I like shooting paint but there is shooting and then there is pointless shooting. I brought 4 cases to shoot that day and I only shot 2 of them because I just got sick of trying to shoot at people on the other side of the bridge.

The only time I enjoyed that was some insane rush on right around 520ish on the yellow bridge my guys ran into a huge group of Pelicans and idk that was the only time it was fun trading paint on a bridge. Mainly because that was the only time I witnessed the coalition trying to cross the bridge and not us Mercs. ( and Im not saying you guys never did)

For me and my guys it just became frustrating not being able to use the whole field. There was no point in using the tapeline and trying to outflank your enemy because you eventualy and ultimately met them at a bridge.

I had fun but my frustration was more of a factor and a lot of other things but I am not here to start some hate thing on this game. I played paintball for a good cause on Sunday. I enjoyed seeing all the teams out there that I haven't before and to see how much this woodsball game has changed since the first time I went to Splat Tag to now is wildly apparent.

So
Pelicans my hats off to you for that little rush you guys tried to pull late in the day on the yellow ridge you made my day shine for a bit. And you guys returned the favor by not letting us cross the bridge either.

AKA
Im sorry about the team change you and I talked about it on the field but I still feel bad. There were two really good reasons for this and none of it was to upset anyone.

When my buddy and I sat down and looked at all the teams that were playing for the coalition we really wanted to go against all of them and see how we would do. We are normally paired against Wild Bunch at the end of the month games. Our teams butt heads until skulls crack. This was really the first chance we have ever gotten to see how we stack up against other teams.

Another was being able to play with Darrin. Yesterday was the first time we have played on the same team with him in the 6 years we have been going out to Splat. We even got to see him in his Mayhem jersey which was really sweet.

Congrats to you Coalition players and AkA
Thank you Wild Bunch for organizing the event.

This game was such a blast! i have never seen so many intense, high volume battles due to the small area of land by the bridges. I saw so much sportsmanship from both sides and minimal negative things.

Some people did get overshot yesterday but when you participate in a suicide charge against 50 or players you probably had it comin hahaha. i know i did.

Krutsie was talkin about the guys with the USSR flag, i was part of that group haha. the team with the flag was Core 5 from madison area and me and a few minutemen teamed up with them and we did a series of bonzia/red army charges. They all failed horribly. Yeah I learned that leading a charge is the best way to get shot because even once you get eliminated you get shot another couple dozen times at least while trying to go through all of the guys who were behind you in the charge.

I was wondering what was going on with the USSR flag as well, I had the pleasure of stopping one of their charges at red bridge. Since at that point we only had probably 6-8 Coalition guys defending red bridge it was a good thing the charge wasn't too huge.

I tried one at the end at the blue bridge right after we threw the smoke. Im way to chubby and slow to be trying a charge for the pin, but me being the logical thinker i am thought i might get it. The more people going for it the better chance we had at getting it i guess.

Btw, who ended up getting that middle pin during the final battle? I walked off with about 5 min left cause i was out of everything and never found out who got that pin.

In my opinion, blue was probably the toughest bridge of all. Most of my actions were up at yellow, but I was involved in a few charges at blue (usually at or near the front) throughout the day...including a nice trip and roll through a hailstorm of paint.

I must say that the some of the refs were probably (and thankfully) as crazy as we were, because I got caught in the no-man's-land at blue during one of the failed charges and a ref ran into the firestorm and manage to get me out. I don't know who you are but thanks.

You weren't the guy by any chance that went out to eat with Tick, Glaman, me (a coalition player) and a number of the other Coalition (Aces High) guys were you?

Though I was in a number of those suicide charges aka "fun runs" at blue base right at the end. The second to last charge we made, I ended up getting right up to the post, and feeling one hit me smack dab right in the middle of the throat, and then another handful hit me. I crouched down as small as I could holding my marker in front of my face and throat. lol I was getting peppered from in front and behind. I was surprised any of the charges were actually successful. At any given time during a charge, at least at the blue base, there had to be at least a case worth of paint in the air lol. Talk about slim chances to walk out unscathed haha.

Good job Mercs, I had one hell of a fun day of paintball at the Hunt. Look forward to painting you up next year too ;)

I fought in only three other places throught the day that werent a brige. The coalition broke through at yellow and made it to the field behind our base by Op Zulu, and we pushed them back. I think they made it through there twice. Another time was when i was fighting in the shipping yard and that was the farthest i got into coal territory. The last time was when i was fighting for our HQ at the very end of the first half, that got pretty inane.

they were brilliant)there were two people in trench coats cought and had keys to defuse the bomb. They could have been props just like those cool bombs. Iceman saw them and he said they were wearing Goth style clothing and had crazy hair and had no Markers. Could have been anybody. I feel Invision Anarchy(the team) was part of the Plot to stir up confusion , they were more out there on the field than the Tanks.. If it was true, VERY WELL DONE WILD BUNCH. Just my oppinion, LOL

I agree. I had a great time about half the day, then got tired of rushing bridges. I sat out the last 3 hours, just sick of "walk to Merc base, go to bridge X, rush bridge, get lit up, walk to Merc base, rinse, repeat."

Bridges were just to easy to hold, for both sides. Eventualy it caused a lot of frustration for both sides. I heard people in the parking/staging lot saying the same thing.

That said, I'll be back next year. 400+ people.... Wow.

I think both teams were just too well matched to do more than stalemate at the bridges.

Coalition was pretty deep into Merc territory before lunch, but the Mercs came back strong after lunch and it took a while to get them back to their side of the bridges.

It was almost like trench warfare. Stalemates punctuated by suicidal charges.

Very true, I know that at least on Yellow bridge we could take it and go about 30-40 yards into Merc territory, but then we would usually get stopped dead in our tracks. Except for one successfull push that put us deep into Merc territory.

Yellow bridge in the back was the key to the entire event. Blue was really tough with the warehouse right there. Lots of cover there. Red, same deal. Yellow bridge was more open with less cover. Also, sitting in the water treatment plant, 50 feet from the river, was the zodiac raft which was to be used to cross the river. You guys should have been using that all day long to cross over. It sat there for SIX hours. Numerous times I watched players walk right by that critical prop. All this despite it being marked with both teams colors. One time, I checked to see if it was still there, when I rounded the corner, I saw a merc player with his foot on the inner tube shooting over the wall upwards towards the yellow bridge. I'm not aware of either team using their blackhawk helicopters to ferry their guys over the river. Coordinating an assault using manpower, the zodiac, & a blackhawk would have crushed the opposition. Looking at the condition of the props, I can read the progression of the game as well. The Coalition base sign & doomsday device came back as clean as they went out. The mercs base sign, as well as their device, were covered in paint. Clear evidence that the merc base was under direct assault.

From what I saw on all bridges some of the charges forgot 1 thing Blindfolds! I believe things may be a little more open next year.;)

Always expect the unexpected when playing a WB game :)

You guys mixing it up as well as you do just makes me want to play the next one even more!

I didn't say it in my first post, but you guys ran an awesome game. Everyone put a lot of time and effort into making this thing happen, and I really appreciate it! Without that I'd never of had the chance to run around like a fool and shoot some people dribble:) And of course, what else is there in life

I think this was my fourth year going to Hunt for the Cure. I do have to say it was also the best time I had. It has always been my favorite event outside of my field.

What made this year so different? Past years I had a great time but usually had an issue or case here or there were some one did not call them self out right away or this or that small things that just get to be a pain but you deal with most every where you go expecially as you add more and more people to an event. I was really impressed with the fact I did not have that at all. Did not see anyone on my own team wiping or any one on the other team get shot any were that they should have known for sure that they got hit and not call them selves out. Every time I felt I needed a paint check (at least 10times) there was always a ref right there.

I also dont think I felt I was ever shot by some one shooting hot. I only heard one case on the field for a player asking a ref to check some one and they did and they were not shooting hot.

These are both big promps to the ref's I think they did a fantastic job. But to every player that was out there. Not turning there gun up. Calling there hits or getting a paint check from a ref before continuing to shoot. Every body seemed to be having a great time out there and just having fun!

The bridges have been great in the past. It was hard this year I think in part to how many people were out. Even a team that is by far less skilled if you can keep getting your guys responed and back up to the bridge you can hold it for quite a while. It made it more challenging and the second half we sat fighting for a bridge or just on the other side. Also made it hard for any sort of flanking or getting through enemy lines much at all. I came close the final battle when I went out there with just a knife. I ran as fast as I could right off the start to the North Bridge and down that tape line but ran into the other team about 20 yards too soon. I got down hoping to be able to some what blend in with in the other team but got shot by my own team even with my guys telling them not to shoot me. It was fun though and added a different challenge for me that I had not done before. I was later able to get right up by the center bridge about 20ft from the Pvc that we had to change to our collor. I was not shot the whole time and was supprised I dont think any one saw me from the merc team. I wanted to switch the pvc over to our collor but I had to get up ballance and jump across 4-5 branches dive and hit the pvc over to our collor all with out getting shot. I knew that would not happen. I was not able to move up any farther because there was a gap were I would have been exposed to several well manned positions on both sides of the gap so I stayed were I was waiting to knive some one if they did make it across the bridge.

Over all awesome event! Great Job Wild Bunch! Thanks Splat Tag and awesome job to the players on both sides of the field!

See you next year!

I'm not aware of either team using their blackhawk helicopters to ferry their guys over the river.

I know the Mercs did, but only for the purpose of something at a base (presumably for a mission?) It walked right by me, landed at KFC (Coalition slang for koolamoola fern center on the edge of the tower course), then left as quickly as it came. Didn't fire a shot at anyone, even though they could have easily had me.

A second Merc helicopter also came by, but it was unarmed and lacked passengers.

Perhaps players of both sides were confused about the zodiac, when it had both team colors? Just a guess - I didn't set foot in there, but I know I was told by many a Coalition player they "thought a Merc mission would be for that zodiac, because it was sitting there with their color." I was never told that it had our color as well (not blaming you or anyone else, just observation of events from where I was - my fault for not going to investigate what I was told)

Props for being brave all you bonzai chargers

I think the best part of the day for me was playing medic, I might volunteer to do that all the time. i was able to direct traffic from behind the lines while keeping our players in the mix, worked out great and allowed us to take Zulu. I am glad the game was so close, makes it more fun when everyone is in it to the end. I tweaked my knee pretty bad comingout of the water treatment plant with the "gear" though, so was pretty slowed down the last couple hours of the day. other than that was an outstanding day.

Coalition was pretty deep into Merc territory before lunch, but the Mercs came back strong after lunch and it took a while to get them back to their side of the bridges.

we had a mission that involved pulling 75 bodies back to our base. with the people starting to lag due to dehydration and general tiredness from the morning - that was prob more than 1/2 our team standing in a line at the base getting counted. it's much easier to take a bridge when most of the defenders have pulled back. I assume that was an intentional move on the part of the organizers to force at least one base battle.

The mercs base sign, as well as their device, were covered in paint. Clear evidence that the merc base was under direct assault.

yup - see above. the problem with attacking a base filled with 80+ instant re-spawn people is that it's a major undertaking. We were pretty well surrounded - but no-one came within 50' of the base.

Was this before the lunch break, or was this from after? Because I know from the "cease fire", we (Coalition) were right over the hill from the back of the Merc base. There was at least 8 of us about to make a suicide run over the hill into the base, but then the horn went off.

I honestly don't think the Mercs got anywhere near our base though. They may have gotten on our side of the bridges, but no where near the base.

I just searched the rules on the Hunt webpage for "zodiac," "boat," "ship," and "raft," and have yet to find it anywhere.

i had a hematoma on my left shoulder about the size of a golfball.

That is exactly why winter paint shouldn't be sold at summer events. The thick shell is great when everyone is in layers but it is too hard for normal use. I by no means mind getting shot up but I took a ball in the shoulder blade on red bridge that litterally made my head ring and the thing didn't even break. The only time your head should ring from a paintball is when you take one in the forehead, not 10" away.
Other than that I think the rest of the game was awesome. The bridges were a little different but it's fun once in a while.

The Zodiac is not in the rules. It was listed on the Generals list of special abilities and units and I think some players probably remember it from 2008.

Keep the comments coming on how the game went, things you liked or hated. Feel free to question why we did one thing and not another or choices the generals made- you may get an answer or not. The more feedback we get the more information we have to put in to next year to make it better.

There were missions triggered by such things as a rubber chicken, Elmo, Elmo in a chicken costume and maybe others. In the future if you think something may be a prop, ask a ref if you can take it.

Overall a good game - it did feel a bit too much of a stalemate in the middle. I would suggest that if you're doing the river again - make it narrower. That way the bridge taking attempts can have a little more cross fire support.

Since the river was so wide you had to push 150+ feet to cross a bridge - and since that's about it for paintball range - you have to do it without support. Real kill-slots.

It was fun at first - but obviously people got tired of the suicide charges.

Question - were there any successful missions run on the other team's side?

Might even be nice if you do decide to keep the river how it is, but add some kind of bunkers on the bridge itself. There was way too much open space near that bridge to really do more than make the other team waste paint lol.

Maybe make each bridge a little wider, and have the sides of the bridge have some cover.

It was a fun game regardless though. Most fun I've had on suicide runs in a long time haha.

Wider bridges with bunkers on them would prolly work real well. Just anything to give you a better chance to fight your way across. Me and another guy from our team were just arriving at our respawn when the SEAL team attacked, and my teamate got his law (that he had JUST brought out with him after returning from rearming back at his truck) ready while me and a couple of Pelican Brigade guys tried to keep the Mercs back. My teamate was pretty pumped when he was able to hit the bunker they were in with a LAW and eliminate the couple that were lefttank2:) (we don't have a smiley with a LAW so that'll have to do:D)
And seconds after he hit the the bunker Krutsie popped out of the command bunker with his LAW all ready to firelaughing:)

I remember it well, one of the guys just put the law in the base about 15 min. B4 the seals arrived. Luckily for us he was there when they did arrive. Those Seal boys must have been very tired and all for naught. We had the same mission and the mission sheet said a Team of 3-5. And not 8, But Ghostwolf must have felt that was'nt enough to take me out. It was a Great battle to watch from my Bunker door though. I volunteered to lead the charge even, some one counted down 3..2..1 GO GO GO and i took off in front, getting destroyed but i made it down to the bridge. I turn around and the other 20 people who were going to charge decided, last second, to "cover me." The next closest guy was 40' behind me and that was the demo guy. If we all would have rushed we could have gotten it, just using ourselves as a human shield for the demo guy but nope, that didnt work out i guess.

Yeah, all it would've taken was for a bunch of guys charging at the same time...
That's why it failed everytime. Even if you charged with 30 people you stil had at least that many people shooting down from protected positions that would anhialate the charge. I only say this because everyone at the game saw charges of every size fail. The "human shield" idea works for aboue 3 seconds because if following the rules to the letter you better be out of the way as soon as your shot and not stil running, this leaves the people being "shielded" to the same fate as the guy in front of them.
I guess I never quite got why everyone always tryed charging. Every time I made it accross the river I pretty much walked.

Easy to say when you can sit and plan and assume everything right down to the last detail when your not watching your watch, or when your 3 missions come in to be completed in an hour, assuming you have the right soul's lounging around at base just waiting to be sent in to be shot to hell. By the time I read and understood the missions and explained them to a Team and had orders passed to the front to which the mission was headed, not to mention answering the questions and explaining the rules for what they could or could not do, let alone strapping on a broken chopper pack on a guy's back that was'nt to sure if he should be the one or not, but by chance you WERE able to get as far as saying GO,GO,GO,... but under your breathe you finish by saying you have 15 min.:(

I had made mistakes, and some wrong decisions along the way, I am new to this position in the Game, but I am aware of them, and I don't usually let it happen twice. It's a tuff job to think and plan and orginize quickly when you have over 200 Red Banded So & So's comming for your hide. Thanks to our Yellow Banded So & So's for not letting that happen.
