Just ran across this today and thought it was interesting that paintball was the first thing in the slide show, and the last. I thought much of the mainstream had actually distanced paintball markers from real guns finally, but yeah, anyway, just thought it was kinda interesting.

It's in there for the same reason those children's toy guns are. As I interpret it, it's an attempt to demonstrate how Americans love guns and shooting stuff.

To a point, there is some merit to that thought (I freely admit I enjoy both playing paintball and shooting guns), however the biggest objection I have with it is the implication that there is something wrong with that. There isn't - all of the above activities are perfectly safe, given proper responsibility and care.

Do Americans really need a semi-auto "assault rifle" (per Clinton's 1994 law)? Maybe not for most things, but do paintballers need 30 bps markers when they can only use them up to 15 BPS, err... 12 BPS now (love the new ROF btw, was a lot of fun at Red Dawn and I can't wait for next weekend :) ) ?

As long as people are being safe and responsible (following good safety protocol), I don't care what they have or use (either paintball or firearms).

Okay, I'll stop getting political.
